Default long black sensor behind intake???

Can someone tell me what the long black sensor is that sits directly behind the intake? Its the one that threads in and sticks up, it is right next to the one that sits down flush in the block. I broke the stupid thing and need to buy a new one Any idea on how much it will set me back? Thanks.

I think most people break this during one intake swap or another. I was warned about it long ago and always am very careful of it now.....

Just be really careful when your installing it.. Do not force it, make sure everything is in the clear & it should go in pretty easy..

I did the same thing MM98. I about **** myself too lol.

How to avoid it: go about normally taking the intake off. The large vacuum hose that goes to the brake booster from the back of the intake manifold is what broke mine. The oil pressure sending unit sits in between that hose and the manifold. Lovely design. It's next to impossible to take that hose off the rear of the manifold while it's still in the car. So what you have to do is be very careful when lifting the manifold. Get your arm/hand back there and just guide that hose above the oil unit before you yank that thing out. Do the same when putting the new manifold back in, guide the hose in first and don't push the manifold back too far.

And make sure you lift the manifold straight up, not just from the front. As you bring it forward a little it will get away from the sensor and you don't have to worry about it as much. I think that little bastard costs about $60 bucks.

I broke one also for the record. I wish I were warned...LOL.
I think it was $48.00 or less to replace.
