Meziere Water Pump?'s
With the colder temps outside now it take my Meziere pump about 20mins of normal driving to even get above 160*.
I know the LS1 needs to run at it's operating temp at some point, so my question is am I harming the motor since it doesn't even get anywhere near 190-210 until about 20 mins later?
I have a 98 so my gauges are semi-accurate and I still have the stock fan settings so I'm thinking of going to a 180* for the Meziere.
BTW it's only 62* today, I'm wondering what it would be like with really cold weather.

I am betting the two small holes that need to be drilled into the thermostat per instructions has something to do with it. It is circulating too much water to have a quick warm up time compared to before. Wonder if making the holes smaller or only drilling one would help. I believe jmx or somebody was talking about experimenting with this. My car and my roommate's both have this problem now and I don't like how long it takes to warm up.

Hey Nic,
I've also noticed on the highway the temp is at 160 the entire time which still seems to cold for the engine?
It's also interesting that my fans have never and I mean not even once turned on with the Meziere with the stock fan settings since I put it on back in October.

i would go to a size smaller on drilling the holes in the t.stat
160*-170* is a real good temp,
any colder and the engine could not properly warmup,
any hotter and you could run in to preignition, or detonation

I use no thermostat in the summer with my EWP, but it will cause service engine soon light if you run no t-stat in the colder weather. For colder weather use, I use a 180 degree t-stat.

I'm going to be getting another thermostat maybe next week and will try it with smaller holes. IMO its running too cold...I can drive home from work some nights and it wont even be 160 by the time I park it 15 minutes later.

you mite watch each cyl. temp, and maybe other parts of your engine
your gauge mite read 160, but your real temp could be 210
because with out a t.stat the coolant mite be flowing
to much and not absorb all of the heat from the cyl. walls, or exh. ports
so the coolant is not heating to the right temp and causing your gauge
to read wrong.
im just saying be carefull,i used to run no stat in the summer
and the gauge went down but the temp didnt,
i learnd the hard way.
