Tuning can be a great thing, but I think too many people see it as a 'must' because of the big internet push that tuning gets.
It's only a must in extreme cases, most mild setup cars run decent, fine, or even good without it.Plenty of H/C & header LS1s were around and doing good before dyno tuning LS1s became common.

Also, those of you blaming rich conditions on melting cats, I don't get that? 
It seems odd to me because, back when I used to use cats, it was always & only a LEAN condition or afterfire that would end up overheating, breaking up, or melting my cats. Runing rich never casued that for me... I don't get it?
