I was kinda wondering more along the lines of , is it "safe" to run a screenless maf, I don't want to sacrifice safety for power and if screenless is not safe for a manual then I wont do it.

I got into this pretty heavy too. Although the car will run and is safe, GM spent a ton of time making the PCM program work with the MAF screen. They also did the same for the Z06 screenless MAF. Point being is you can do it, but a tuner will need to 'remap' to accomodate more airflow. Read more at LS1Tuning.com about it. Also Mike, from what I undertand, Brian at JD's is capable of doing it for you ( retuning for a different MAF ).

I have mine gone .... felt a difference but it was probably because i did the FRA K&N and de-screened at the same time ... then the next day a lid ...lol but i have put a good 1000 miles on also since and have had no problems ..... and it runs great !
