Default early ls1 vs late ls1

what are the diff between 98 and 99 ls1 vs the later 2000 and 2002 ls1's? i know the head gasket and head design whre diffrent but is there anything else? performance diffrences?

LS6 intake manifolds started in late 2000 (I think). No EGR on the 2001 and 2002 models either. Other than that, I'm not sure.

01, 02s were slightly faster. better int, ex, heads and different cam for better low end.

later ls1's (2001-2002) had stronger rod bolts and ls6 intakes. all years had different cams. 1997-1998 were the only years for the perimeter bolt heads

so 98 and 99 where slower? that sucks consdiering i just bought a 98. what kind of power loss are we talkin here? would it be more equal if i got the better ls intake?

Yes if you thow on a LS6 intake you will be just about there with power of 01-02 models.
