Why would you want the Cat-Back coated?

Great set-up, you'll be very happy with it. 20+ hp (before tune), and great sound

Quick question...what type of sound are you looking for? I can tell you right now that the hooker catback totally sucks. It has descent volume, but the sound is one of the wussiest things I've ever came across.

Matter of opinion I guess but I think with headers, the hooker sounds very good! It is also costs much less than other catbacks AND is one of the best flowing.

^Agreed^. The Hooker catback is quiet at idle, but screams at WOT. I'm not one to tool around town, turning heads because I'm loud. I'll leave that to the ricers. I like to turn heads when I jump on it and pass my opponent with that loud, deep, pissed-off, grumble. To each his own, I guess.

WTF!
This truly substantiates the subjectivity of exhaust choice.
The Hooker kicks ***/sounds mean IMO. It is a bit quiet with stock manifolds and Y-pipe, but then again, so are most catbacks (except for the LM). LT's wake everything up.

It's definately not "wus".

This is the exact setup I am planning on installing in February, except I am not having the Catback coated. I also plan on having it dyno tuned.

When I had my 12-bolt rear end installed at EPP in Ft Wayne, Bob’s Camaro (EPP’s owner) had the same exhaust (Hooker LT, ORY and Hooker Catback) and I was impressed by the sound. It’s not obnoxious like my “Loud Mouth” and it has a quality muscle car sound.

From talking to people and researching results on the web, most people get about 30 rwhp total if they also have it dyno tuned. I have read a lot of post with the Hooker setup that stated that the car ran to rich until they had it tuned.

I recently read an article in “Car Craft Magazine” that had a Camaro Z28 with the same Hooker exhaust we are talking about (plus a lid and gears) and his quarter mile trap speeds were 110 mph.

If I can get 110 trap speeds after my install, I will be happy. At least for a little while. Until next year, over the winter I am thinking about getting the TR224 Camshaft, hardened pushrods and 918 springs. But that a differant topic all together.

Good Luck,

Al

I think it is what it is from prior experience. One of my friends ran it for a while on his Firehawk. He had Hooker Headers along with the catback and it just wasn't mean at all until WOT. Then it faired pretty well. He got tired of it, and none of us (friends) liked the sound at all. I DO AGREE on how it sounds at WOT, it's not too bad. But I am one of those true dual guys. I like it to sound mean at idle and WOT, no matter what situation. I will give it one thing though. It does flow well. As stated, to each his own. JMHO.

Thanks everyone. Im looking for a nice mellow muscle car sound, I plan on putting a dump on there too so it can be loud when i want it to be. I also want something that flows really well, which the hooker does. And with the headers and ORY it will give it a little more agressive sound aswell. Also installing a nice cam at the same time, not sure what one yet. But unfortunitly this is all going to have to wait to be put on my car cause I just found out that im going back over seas again.. Take it easy..
