This truly substantiates the subjectivity of exhaust choice.
The Hooker kicks ***/sounds mean IMO. It is a bit quiet with stock manifolds and Y-pipe, but then again, so are most catbacks (except for the LM). LT's wake everything up.
It's definately not "wus".
When I had my 12-bolt rear end installed at EPP in Ft Wayne, Bob’s Camaro (EPP’s owner) had the same exhaust (Hooker LT, ORY and Hooker Catback) and I was impressed by the sound. It’s not obnoxious like my “Loud Mouth” and it has a quality muscle car sound.
From talking to people and researching results on the web, most people get about 30 rwhp total if they also have it dyno tuned. I have read a lot of post with the Hooker setup that stated that the car ran to rich until they had it tuned.
I recently read an article in “Car Craft Magazine” that had a Camaro Z28 with the same Hooker exhaust we are talking about (plus a lid and gears) and his quarter mile trap speeds were 110 mph.
If I can get 110 trap speeds after my install, I will be happy. At least for a little while. Until next year, over the winter I am thinking about getting the TR224 Camshaft, hardened pushrods and 918 springs. But that a differant topic all together.
Good Luck,
Al
