My opinion is this... If you ask a shop whos selling it, ofcourse it makes power... If you ask someone who bought one and installed it and put it on the dyno..> The answer is no.....

Well whether it does or not, I just bought one also - @5K/yr mileage I guess mine will last 12 yrs!

I will be dynoing at Rapid in March - baseline, after my new heads/cam, and then I'll have them swap in the pump. Guess only time will tell (if nothing else at least it's polished

The benefits for me are not seeing 220 degree engine temps while daily driving in stop and go traffic in 110 degree weather here in Phoenix.

Also, I can keep my FTRA on all year round (instead of just during cool months) since the damn thing blocks 2/3 of my radiator.

I also like having my engine temps where I want them to be all the time. 180-195 for me all day long. Great mod; hp or not I wish I would have done it sooner.

Oh, and thermostats are $50-60 bucks cheaper, each.

All electric water pumps free up some power, though it may be very small. You are taking weight off of the rotating assembly same as underdrive pulleys.

OPtimum racing temp is between 175-200. You dont want to be running that cool at the track.

I am keeping mine because I live in Texas and if I ever get stuck in traffic, I dont have to worry about the car getting hot. Otherwise, its the worst investment I have made yet in my car.

They are a time-bomb waiting to explode

There are 2 ceramic discs held in place with spring pressure,
for a seal.
These discs rub againest each other.
If there is any flaw, [small crack], in one of the discs.
Someday, present, or in the future, [no way to tell],
there may be TOTAL FAILURE as the discs wear, & the
disc then shatters.

Been there done that.
NO WARNING BEFORE FAILURE !!!!!
I had mine 2 months.
I started the car in the garage one warm day.
Drove 1/2 block & BANG, instant failure, water EVERYWHERE !!
By the time I turned around & got back into my driveway, [5 mins],
most of my coolant was GONE !!!

I was told by Meziere that the discs aren't/can't be inspected 100%
for these 'small' cracks...
Rough handling, [ups dropping..], could/will, cause small cracks too,
as was told to me by Meziere.
The 1ST thing that Meziere does when returned for warranty , is to
check for ANY signs that pump was dropped. NO WARRENTY if pump
was dropped as I was told.
Mezeire does state that this is a freaky thing, & isn't the norm...

Hay, **** happens, & I got rid of that piece of...
Its either TOTAL failure, or NO failure, with this pump seal...
Ok, thats somthing that should be in the back of your mind,
as your'e going down the track, or in the middle of 'tin-buck-two'.
5 minutes until you are out of coolant , & melt-down begins..

Now, it flows only 55GPM, the stock pump flows 80GPM. The new
LS2 pump, flows 160GPM, double the GEN III pump, as GM sees a
need for MORE flow in these engines.
Read some of the 'Darton' sleeve threads, on this board before you
buy this pump.

I got maybe 1/2 tenth & 1 MPH in the 1/4.
Better cooling during 'round-robin' , at the track, & better around
town cooling.

Your call...

Dave

I have one and it does not cool my engine anymore than the stock pump. At first it looked like it was going to but after driving it for a day it almost runs hotter. I dont think It freed up 1 single hp, although I cant say for sure cause I added new heads and cam at the same time and all of it I was hopping for quite a bit more power.

Verbs is talking about the sbc thermostats for the Meziere which cost $7.

I did a back-to-back before/after with the Meziere yesterday and saw a zero gain.

I did two runs with the Meziere and four runs with the stock water pump which was a mistake (should have done four runs with the Meziere).

Meziere
First Run:343rwhp
Second Run:347rwhp

Stock Water Pump
First Run:342rwhp
Second Run:344rwhp
Cooled Down 10 mins then
Third Run:350rwhp
Fourth Run:353rwhp

I doubt the Meziere pump would have picked up more than 6hp on a third or fourth run so I would call it even, and I'll post the graph later tonight.

And I might also dyno my car at another shop today and compare the numbers to my dyno with the Meziere from 2 months back (I realize it won't be as accurate as the back-to-back runs).

No one in town has these at all, so I have to factor in shipping, and the fact that most of the 160 degree thermos are more expensive than $45.

I can pick up a SBC thermo for the Meziere for $5.

Did you drill holes in your thermostat before installing it? My pump made a huge difference.

They flow 15-20% less than stock. Only reason you see lower temps at the track is you can run it all the time but for max cooling it is way down. Evans just released a new pump that is 20% more efficient than stock. They are listed here https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthrea...72#post1027472

And this all makes me have a real warm, fuzzy feeling about just spending $514 on one.

Just when you think you have researched a product to death - you get more info AFTER you purchase

The car heats up driving to the box My car runs it's best time's at 150 leaving the hole.Keep in mind the oil is still hot.If I run 190+ out of the
hole my car drops 2mph at the top end.

Before the pump my car ran 185 degree's on the highway with a 160 stat, now it stays at 165-170.
