Fast 90/90 gains on my set up?
I just picked up a NIB Fast 90 and it will be matched up with a Nick Williams TB. What kind of gains do you think I will see on my full bolt on, EPS 226/230, M6 set up?

If I had to guess for a unported fast 90 maybe 8 to 10 at the rear,I'm putting one on my 99ss m6,bolt ons ms4 cam,but I won't have any dyno numbers till spring mines ported though,I sure someone will come in that has a lil better info because for one I'm just guessing and 2,I would like to know what most people gained on a cam only car

The LS6 intake is not a restriction on a set of unported 853 / 241 heads. The restriction is the heads. You will see minimal gains with stock heads. I believe the LS6 intake will flow 265 cfm, which is more than stock 241's. A good ported Fast will flow 280-290 CFM but it all has to be a matched system.
I gained 33 hp / 27 tq through the entire rpm range with the addition of my ported Fast85 and an underdrive pulley which I believe was worth 8-10 rwhp. I also ditched the stock MAF and used a straight silicone coupler to remove all restrictions before the intake. I did properly port my Fast and correct the alignment of the intake ports, which I doubt most people do. The alignment on a few of the ports was terrible too.
Go with a set of 243's, they have a much better short turn radius than any 241 / 5.3 head. WCCH, AI or TEA would be my choice when it comes to ported 243's (BRE if you have the coin).

Thanks for the replies. Man djfury, a 55 rwh gain is pretty impressive. I have talked with Phil at AI and I'm really staring to lean towards the 243's. He mentioned they will have a revised version of them towards the end of this month. I think I will wait on those and do the Fast at the same time.
Nitroused, I've wondered about deleting the MAF. I would imagine if I deleted it I would need to tune it out. Would I have a hard time tuning it out or run into issues by not running one?

There's still more left in it also.. we were about to throw some more timing at it but we ran into some issues. I'm also wondering if there are any gains to be had with 1 7/8 headers over my 1 3/4s. I am interested in this revised edition I will have to ask Phil about it as well as some other stuff... good luck man

It depends who tuned it, I've seen some pretty shitty tunes from people in Washington state. I daily drive my car when it's not buried under a few feet of snow. It was cheaper for me to ditch the MAF than it was to upgrade to a 85mm MAF from a zo6 so that is the route I went.
I do my own tuning and have tuned a few friends cars in speed density with no issues. If you have good o2 sensors you can run closed loop speed density which is a great option for guys who are worried about major climate and elevation changes. If you run speed density, accurate reading from the intake air temp sensor is a must, so you need to relocate the sensor to an area of the car that does not pickup heat from the radiator.

The 1 7/8s are a good investment. Texas Speed did a test a few months back on their 1 3/4 headers vs their 1 7/8s headers on a stock LS1. Up to 4K the power was the same and after the 1 7/8s gained around 8hp up to redline. The gains will be noticeable on a cammed setup

Wow thats pretty impressive rsults. Did you go from stock 241s to ported 243s? Did you stay w/ the same TR230 cam? Was the Fast 92 ported? Great results, almost 475hp, wow.

Since getting those numbers though I am having AI custom spec me a grind matched to their heads. Should be interesting. There was possibly some more power left in the other cam. We were about to put some more timing towards it but ran into some other issues.
Turk you made the right choice getting ur intake ported =)

As far as I know Vengeance does not take the intake all the way apart. There is no way to properly port a fast without disassembling it, most of the gains are from putting a nice radius on the trumpet inlets. You're looking at a good 8-10 hours of labor if you know what you're doing, and that is far from cheap.

those are some good results from the ported fast. im kinda thinkin twice about doin a stroker if i can get a 346 up to 475+. im makin 426 right now, but i was considering sending in my heads to AI to get milled ported a lil more and whatever other magic they can do. and a ported fast with the rest of my missing bolt ons should net some good power.
