Default Budget Build

Like the title says I am wanting to do budget H/C/I build on my Camaro. Right now all the car has is headers with tru duals, lid, 3200 stall, 3.73 gears

Here is what I had in mind but unsure right now PRC 5.3 heads, FAST 92 or 102 with matching TB. Also a custom cam and supporting mods. And eventually want to use a small shot of nitrous.

Want to make around 450 HP and run somewhere in the 11's. Would this be possbile on a 3k to 4k budget or is there a better bang for buck route I could go with.

Look into the TSP Torquer V3 or V2 cams. I've always had my eye on those and they make nice power. The 5.3's will up your compression. Not sure how nitrous will work with all that.

The FAST setup will eat most of your budget and you will prolly have to re-do your ducting, rails and injectors. Look into Patriot dual Gold valve springs. You'll prolly benefit from some 42# injectors also. Your stockers will be pretty much maxed by then.

FAST intake $700-$1100 (Used or brand new with TB thru TSP for $1100 for a 102mm)
Fuel rails through Speedinc can be had starting at around $120.

$1600 h/c package through TSP.. WITH your 5.3 heads you want..

Default Fast

Yeah thats what I had my eye on was a set up from Texas Speed. Are those heads a bad choice if I plan to run nitrous later on.

Will the FAST 102 work for my set up or should I go with the 92

^ Everyone says the 102 works fine.. But IMO, it's overkill. A 92mm will be great and check the classified sections for a used one.

And as far as the heads, I really don't know how that and a cam will do with nitrous. The cylinder pressures will be high. How much were you planning on spraying? You'll prolly need a better fuel pump with all that too, but I'm not 100% sure.

Go 102. You can always use a smaller TB with the intake. The runner design is far superior to the 92. They are on ebay frequently for what a 92 would go for on here. Id talk with TSP about your use of nitrous to go with your choice of heads. Id also up your stall to somewhere in the 3800-4K range

the 102 cathedral is designed for ls1/ls6's and would be great for your goal. if i were you i'de look into something other than XER lobes(not telling you what to buy just giving you some suggestions). try searching "EPS cam" and read through the results and feedback people are getting from these cams. you can either get an off the shelf grind or get a custom grind from Geoff. but these cams are supposed to be easier on the valve train and make great hp. we're talking about 430-440 rwhp with stock 243's. and that's with a fairly mild profile.

I will monitor ebay for a used FAST 102 and keep researching threads. Is there any other intake that would compare to the Fast 102 but cheaper. I love the way they look just so damn expensive

I would like to use maybe a 100 shot? I had planned on getting a bigger fuel pump if I went the nitrous route. Also, the cam needs to be streetable its not a DD but it gets drivin alot in the summer. The car is an 2001 with about 93,000 miles btw

No, thats why it has the price tag that it does. And used 90s or 92s are just as much. It will be worth the extra money

Do I need to upgrade my timing chain when I swap in a cam. Also, found a few videos on youtube of guys running nitrous with 5.3 heads and stock bottom end with fast 90 and they are making some pretty good times at the track. But still counldnt find much on here weather it should be done or not.
