Default Hole in my LT Header, pop ?

After hitting it WOT, I heard what sounded like a miss and multiple backfire out of exhaust. I pulled over right away and noticed a hole in my header. It seems there was a plate riveted on the tube of the header, one of the rivets blew out and left a hole.
I am having it welded closed in the morning. But I am wondering if there may be other damage because I am getting popping backfires coming out of the rear exhaust
(not the hole). This happens between shifts and light down shifts. I am driving it very lightly as I do not want to cause damage before I can get the hole closed.
I am wondering what is causing the popping ... my thoughts are that the hole is drawing in air on downshift and helps ignite unburned fuel in the exhaust. My fear is that it is a larger problem like a valve etc.. I should add that it runs and accelerates smoothly and I have always had a raspy exhaust.

it's because you are having un-metered air escaping the exhaust. having it welded should fix you. as long as you didn't stay in the throttle when you heard the pop, even then i can't see anything being hurt. that hole is not big enough IMO, yeah it's close to the head but i can't see it letting out that much gas...

Default Thanks everyone,

Hole closed all is well. She is purring like a T-REX again.
The rivet is from a small plate that holds the serial # or model # of the headers.
As mentioned earlier, this does effect my ceramic coating. I will contact Pacesetter to see if something can be done about replacing it.
