My cutout it always open. It's actually not THAT loud, pretty loud though. I have gotten bored of it and will be getting an ORY soon and some mid-length headers.

I could see driving around with it open if you run stock manifolds and Cats, would still be quiet. On my car it's obnoxiously loud and gives me a headache. That's why I run a quiet cat-back and an electric cutout for the extra HP if I need it.

I don't have headers YET but I will soon. I run uncapped now and plan on doing it then. I live next to a police and he is cool with it.

I was running uncapped all the time when I had manifolds & cats. Now with the longtubes & ORP I keep it closed a lot so I can hear the radio.

I'll open it up sometimes just so I don't have to listen to my wife.

I can't stand driving around with the cutout open. Sounds like a dump truck gone bad If the cats were still on the car, it would sound a LOT better. I've heard an open headers 383 LT1 in person, that thing sounded nice though!

I run LT's 3"X and boom tubes. It is loud...I don't care. The cops around here like it, they are all NASCAR fans and my car sounds just like one.

Right now I always have my cutout open, unless I'm gonna be going on a long trip. Once the LT's and ORY get installed, though, I'm gonna keep it closed. No cats and open cutout is LOUD.

My car is completley stock exhaust ect except I do have the air lid and cut out. I run my open for a a week or 2 then cap it off. Run it for a week or so and run it open. Mine is pretty loud for everything elde being stock and I get compliments all the time however like most of you said, head starts to hurt after a while.

I pretty much daily drive my car uncapped all the time. I have a cam, headers, off road y pipe, and cutout. It is LOUD. But I don't care. You have to turn the radio up extra loud though somtimes.

Previous owner had a cutout welded in just before the CME muffler. It stays uncapped, but I have stock manifolds, cats. That'll change (Hooker LT's and true duals w/ bullets sitting in the garage) Anyone have a lift I can use? LOL

Man the electric cutouts are great. If I want to get some attention I open it. I've had people yell at me while walking on the street to "rev it up". It feels like it kills some of my low end torque with it open though, not enough back pressure I guess, so I leave it closed a lot of the time. On the highway, I like to open it a little to make sure I'm heard, I think its safer when other cars can hear you even though they may not see you. When I see coffee can exhaust, it opens then too. When someone tailgates me, it opens.
