So my friend has a 2001 T/A with slp headers cats and straight pipe and its ****** loud as hell! But it seems like he uses up wayy more gas..why is that?
I was thinking of doing the same thing on my 2000 camaro ss..but not after I saw how much gas is being wasted! I only have headers but stock muffler..So whats the best exhaust I can get that's going to be loud! Strong and not too expensive!???

My guess would be that he has a heavy foot, which is the cause of his poor gas mileage.

What is "too expensive" for you? IMO, a good true dual set up sounds really good on our cars. What's your budget?

With extremely fast flow and possible outside air reversion, the O2 sensors may not be reading the true A/F mixture and causing overfueling - hard to tell without good datalogging and a visual of your friend's system.

it isnt expensive to do but you are going to need to get a tune so it runs properly.

yeah he more than likely revs the crap out of it a lot,(hey look at me my car is loud and sounds real bad and raspy) lol ,intakes, catbacks, things of that nature should increase gas mileage ,there a lot more free flowing than the restrictive stock junk, now get a big cam then we will talk about bad gas mileage

I'm with these guys.

I'll bet your buddy's mileage has a lot to do with the fact that he's running rich. (I'm sure his ridiculous driving style is a contributing factor, as well. )

He should look into getting an Aftermarket Tune and you should too, once you complete your exhaust setup.

Long tubes, ORY, Cut out is probably the loudest possible. There would be nothing to muffle the sounds at all.

i got better gas mileage when i was manifolds and cats but when i went to LT's and an ORY i get about 20-30 miles less per tank than i use to and i don't have a heavy foot and yes i'm tuned but i'm happy with everything. talk to an exhaust shop who is reputable and you can avoid payin a **** load of money for a true dual set-up
