Default How do you shave and paint the Fast to look well

I was wanting to make the Fast intake black and take the lettering off the top. Do I just use one of the small air grinder tools that you use with the red pad when cleaning the mounting surface on things like heads? Can I use a rattle can or do I need to have it powdercoated?

All depends on how far you wanna go with it, You can use a sander with about 120 grit to remove the letters, and the orange peel surface of the manifold, then clean it up with 220, prime it, then sand it with 300 grit or so. then get it perfectly clean and paint it. You can use a spray can if you want, but the best looking results would be from an automotive 3 stage paint. Have seen intakes painted body color on cars and it looks nice. I prefer to keep mine just as is.

I really just wanted a simple black similar to the oem manifold so I think I am going to sand it and try a rattle can to see how it looks. Thanks.

That looks pretty nice. I think I will try that but will take the lettering off before I do

If you do that you will need to sand the whole thing, otherwise the areas where there used to be lettering will be textured differently than the rest.

Could also consider some wrinkle finish paint for a different look.

just remember both the LS1 and LS6 intakes have a little texture to them, so it you sand completely smooth it might raise questions and someone might start to look more closely if your trying to be sneaky. Wrinkle finish would be a good idea as ThunderStuck said.

I found a black that comes out what they call hammered. It looks pretty good, I did the 90mm throttle body I have in it too.

Is there any special primer you need to use?
