Default electric cutout(s)

hey guys, i am wanting to do an exhaust upgrade. I do not want headers..let me rephrase that.. i CANT afford headers so i was thinking a electric cutout would be good or I was thinking of going with a magnaflow catback or possibly the loudmouth. I have never heard a lm in person but according to most people it is horribly loud. This would be ok if i could turn it off when im not racing.(hence the cutout) Just want more performance from my exhaust as is right now all that i have is a what looks (and sounds) like a flowmaster muffler,just the muf no catback. i dont know for sure it was already on there. It sounds alright to me but i know a good catback would be better but couldnt i just put a cutout on it? If so Where do you guys mount them or it..Another qstn one or two cutouts? if the answer is two then i might as well buy the catback as were getting on up there in price. Dont neccesarily have to go magnaflow but have heard these sound awesome i have the stock y pipe and cats. anyone have any special on the cutouts or the catbacks..no flowmaster heard one on a z28 and didnt like it at all.. sorry if someones running the flow setup, dont want a war i have an 88 chevyw/a 355 with true duals( 2.5 inch ),headers and dual flowmasters with dumps, surely the loundmouth wouldn't be louder than this

Just get a QTP----->(Sponsor)
Electronically controlled cutout.
It should go in the "I" pipe, in a small niche just under the passenger side rear seat area. It will flow all you need to flow, and will be loud on command.

Or, for the catbacks, a Loudmouth is the best flowing out there. It gets plenty loud once you put on Longtubes and/or delete the cats.
Magnaflow flows very well, is more mellow.

put cutout right after Y pipe to keep your torque. DO this and you dont need aftermarket catback. I run 382 stroker, X1 cam, FLP longtube headers, FLP off road pipes, FLP Y pipe and then cutout....all going into stock Camaro rear exhaust. Not too loud with cutout closed, and intimidatingly loud when it is open...actually scares people at WOT, makes bike guys about loose it!

3"
It will sound like crap when open, at idle on a near stock car, at part throttle it will sound horribly like a dump truck. It will crap your pants however when at W.O.T., that's when the sound is totally worth it.
With a cam, the idle sound is good again.

It's not all that loud... Mine sounds really nice when it's open, very little rasp, probably becuase of the stock headers and cats. You will need a 3" cutout and then a 3" electric plate. I mounted the switch in the ashtray.

There are many brands of electric plate, you probably meant QTP. This is the most common choice. There is also FLP, DMH, and MCPP2. I got an MCPP2 becuase it was only $105. I've had it for about three months and no problems. They are made by McCord. I'm not about the site but you can search for it.

Yes... the weld bead makes up for the 1/4" difference.

Very easy to wire up, the MCPP2 has a fuse built into the wiring so you just need to find a ground and a swiched 12v source. Not sure about the QTP though.
