Default Need help just installed new GMMG cat back and can't stop raspy sound

Hi all been on the site for a while gathering info for my car and finally purchased a 2000 z28 m6 camaro with 92k. and have finally gotten the money to replace the exhaust. I just recieved my cat back from gary at madhammer aka gmmg exhaust and installed it today. note the car all stock, I installed it on the factory manifilds and y pipe, but on small- med revs 2-3,300 it has a loud backfire or gunshot like pop. what did I do wrong? poss something not tight enough? at y pipe? I will ck tommorow. My buddy has the same exhaust on his 02 ss stock motor manifilds and y pipe no loud crackle just a sweet rumble or burble as you would expect.
sorry for the puncuation not my strong point. any how any help would be appriciated
Thanks
Dan

Its normal with that type of exhaust. Sounds like crap and is over-priced IMO but what the hell do I know

You shouldn't be getting any popping/rasp with the cats on the car. There may be another issue somewhere.

Once you take the cats off it becomes the most over priced **** sounding exhaust on the planet IMO.

I had a hooker catback on my vehicle with and without CATS, with catted y pipe, no rasp what so ever...W/O cats, it sounded like ***, but to be frank, the y pipe I had was HORRIBLE. The old TSP ORY was a POS. I now have custom TD's with cats and edelbroK's. Sounds amazing IMO

About our cars beeing raspy, its really hard to make great sound with the y pipe, there will always be rasp, unless its catted to death lol,I have not heard one catback compare to the sound of a good dual setup,I think a lot of catbacks sound good, gmmg I do think has a good sound, magnaflow sounds great,I also like borla, but all can be raspy, not only that besides the newer style tsp y pipes, they all have crap for a merge, they should call some of these ( T ) pipes, they look more like a T than a Y lol

I may be the exception but I love the crackle and popping noise. No other cars make this noise. It sounds like they're pissed off and ready to tear up some pavement.

I know I will catch some flack on hear but flowmaster actually sound good on are car even in stock configuration. The truth is rasp on are cars is almost unescapable with a y even with a good y design the key is making it manageable. just my opinion.

There really shouldnt be any rasp, pops, or backfires to speak of on an otherwise stock car...my buddy's '00 SS has longtubes, ORY, and a supercharger running 5psi and it sounds pretty smooth still...

Have you replaced your o2's at all?

I was gonna say, I have no popping or anything. At the time of this sound clip, I had a bad O2 and still no problems with popping or anything.

no mine has a backfire or popping sound like a small handgun on short quick revs, otherwise same sound? any ideas? as far as o2's have recips from pervious owner replaced last year. how tight are your band clamps on the y pipe? i installed them w an impact gun, and used a 3" exhaust clamp on the over the axle provided. as far as a tune I believe stock tune as well. only thing I can think of is original plugs and I also am only running 89 octane is that a problem?
