Default Diagnosing squeaking sound *UPDATE*

My son has this sound coming from his engine. We think its a belt because it sounds like it is revolving and it increases with the RPMs, but we've sprayed every pulley and it doesn't go away.

We are going to pull the serpentine belt tomorrow and hand turn the pulleys. He doesn't have an AC belt so that all that we know to do. Is there some other way to diagnose this?

You can hear it real good in the video:

That could very well be. It just started yesterday after we changed the plugs and wires and it doesn't sound like any specific pulley or tensioner.

I am hoping its not a rod bearing going south since he just bought the car last week (not that it wouldn't be a great learning experience for him do the repair ).

EDIT: I wanted to add we did an oil change yesterday as well. 5.5 quarts of 5W-20 Mobil 1.

I agree it doesnt exactly sound like a pully or belt squeek.. Not sure what it would be though.

It's at crank speed, so it's something either on the bottom end or something possibly rubbing on the converter.

spray lube on both pully tensioner just to make sure you rule those out.

^ White lithium grease. I think WD-40 made my pulley noises worse. I think it dilutes and cleans out the grease already in the pulleys. But that doesn't sound like a pulley, IMO.. Unless it's traveling through the block somehow. It's at crank speed, so check the WP or something with the crank pulley.

^ Crank pulley just check for play and spin it over by hand (1/2" ratchet) and the water pump just spin it by hand.

UPDATE:

We have pulled the heads and found 4/16 lifters with the rollers scratched up quite a bit, but the rollers still roll fine and aren't out of shape. In other words, it looks to be just surface issues, but we are replacing all of them anyway.

Here is my question:

Without removing the cam we can see that one of the lobes resembles the roller on the bad lifter. Should we replace the cam as well?

We tried to pull the cam for a better inspection, but we are having a hard time locking the flywheel down (A4) to get the crank bolt loose. Any suggestions on this as well?

Thanks for all of your help!

Ben
