Default Quick cat question

I have started hearing a loud rattle coming from under the car at low rpms, and I'm almost sure that it is coming from the passenger side cat. So my question is: do I need to replace both cats or just the one that is bad? I'm pretty sure that I would if I went with a high flow, but what if I used a regular one?

You could just replace the one but if one is bad chances are the other one wont take long to go bad.

Parts and labor would probably be around 250.

$850? Ask them what they are smoking to charge you that much for an hour job.

Well, they said the cat was gonna cost 700. Lol, i'm not going there. I was just looking at Magnaflow high flows and I'm confused at prices differences. There is a "direct fit" cat for camaros that costs 300 and then there are some standard 3" high flow cats for about 100 (part# 99659HM). Would I be able to run the $100 high flows on my car that has the stock manifolds and y-pipe?

As long as the high flow cat listed for 100$ fits your needs it will work. Make sure its same size in and out... dont let them open the opening at all... if you got a 3 inch exhaust, you want a high flow with 3" in and out.local shops around here rob you with that ****

I've heard that they will clog and/or come apart inside due to a number of issues one of which being overheating. I bought an OEM set here for $75 and they were like New. Seems there are people on this site that will still give you a GOOD Deal. Not everyone wants to rob you blind. lol
