arh headers vs others
Hey guys,
right now i have catted mac mids on the car. I was looking to upgrade to some longtubes. I was planning on going tsp headers or pacesetters since they were cheap and there are not huge gains over the macs.
i just had to opportunity to purchase a set of brand new american racing headers from a friend of mine for 550. He sold his car before he ever installed them. they are the 1 3/4" primaries.
anyway, if i get the arh headers from him i still have to buy a catted y pipe at 600 bucks.....so 1100 total
or just get the coated pacesetters with tsp catted y pipe for 700.
how much power should i gain with the longtubes over the macs?
is it worth it to spend the extra 400 for arh headers? i can sell my macs to offset the price a little.

i am also finishing up a nitrous install, not sure if the longtubes will help me with that.

If I had to have cats for emissions the ARH or Kooks would be my choices. The ARH is a very good product. I got BBKs & no cats. Couldnt be happier. If you dont need cats why spend the extra & not have a better flowing system?
Pacesetters on a GP, thats a TOTALLY different setup than for a RWD car. They had problems with the pipe coming apart on the W body headers, thats why I went with the TOGS when I had my GTP.

Another thing to consider is whether or not you need to install poly motor mounts to keep the Y from banging the floorboard, or the torgue arm in my case. A lot of comments on these boards about swapping these mounts amounts to "never again", "my heads and cam were easier", and so on.
With ARH 1 7/8" and catted Y, at least for me, I was able to adjust the banging out without a need to swap the mounts. This is on an '01 Camaro. I was very relived that I did not have to tackle it .
