Default Fast 92/92

Im wondering if anyone has an opinon if running a FAST 92/92 setup with stock heads and cam is money poorly spent? Or if i should just go with a LS6 intake and P/P TB until i have the money for H/C?

It all depends on what your future plans are. An LS6 intake will hold you over for quite a while even after you have h/c, but if you are eventually going to need the 92/92 setup it's hard to call it money poorly spent. Probably not the most efficient use of funds, since you won't see much over a LS6 intake for a while

Is that clear as mud for ya

I was told that the stock intake is fine. If I was going to spend money, I would do long tubes or cam. IMO

I will have LT's, ORY, DMH ecutout, catback at the end of the month. But wasnt planning on doing H/C and n2o until winter. I was going to go ahead and throw a intake and TB on it now and run that for the summer. so just tryn to decide which route to take

I would hold off on the FAST until after other mods. I did a FAST 90/90 on my H/C setup, had it ported by Tony @ AFR to match my heads. Gained 12hp total. I don't see the dollar to hp value there on a stock motor over an LS6 intake.

My end goal is 500hp to 550hp at the tire with out spraying it. and i dont want to end up having to buy the same mod more than once. I wasnt sure if the LS6 intake and p/p TB would support that much hp

If youre aiming for 500rwhp(never seen 550rwhp stock SB LS1 here BTW), I'd go with a ported 102mm.

But way before that, I'd get a pair of TFS, AFR, PRC aftermarket heads. If youre on a budget, TEA offer nice porting for stock casting. Sorry to say, but if youre on a budget, you wont see 500rwhp..

Same for the exhaust setup, bring your $$$ to get premium parts!

I have it in the budget. I just didnt want to rip into the motor yet i just bought the car last month and want to drive it this summer. In the winter the drivetrain will come out and the car is going to the bodyshop. Im tryn to get a plan together so i have all my parts ready to go when that time comes

If your going to buy an intake, buy a FAST. I would think it more of a waist if you spent $300 on a ls6 then $900 on a FAST in the future. But I don't like to do things twice. I do it right the first time, and done.

thats my deal i dont want to do it twice. i guess my question should of been will the LS6 intake and p/p TB support my HP goals or should i just go with the FAST setup?

i bought a fast 92/95 setup a while ago for my h/c/i project. im just waiting to forge my bottom end before all this goes in. i already have all the bolt ons, except im still rockin the LS1 intake...im sure it would help me.

id say if your planning on a nasty h/c setup go for it. deals pop up once in a while. i got my intake and tb for 750 on here...

Those are some lofty goals for a stock bottom end Not saying impossible but you might be looking a whole different route intake wise (aka Victor, Beck, etc)

zacht made a very good point that if it's not necessary to buy now take your time and keep your eyes open for a smokin deal otherwise wait until you HAVE to pay full price.

500rwhp N/A has been done but it's not easy and very expensive. If that's your goal get the FAST setup because your going to need every pony you can get. It would probably be cheaper and definately easier to just slap a D-1SC on it.

Ill end up redoing the bottom end. when i said "stock block" i ment just that i dont want to put a differnet motor in it. I know 500hp is a big goal for a NA LS1 but im down for the challenge im selling all my other toys and starting a new hobby with this car

you will gain more putting the money on something else. I gained 22hp from a fast,BUT i already had a head and cam package. I had 420hp with The ls6 intake before i went to a fast.

Well if you plan to go bigger and have a good deal lined up on a used 92/92 then go ahead and pull the trigger.... An LS6 is fine for all but very aggressive 346 setups IMO...

cant bore an LS1...stuck with a maximum 3.905 bore...stroke it...ive seen 383's and...396???

most make great power with the 5.7 tho, i mean some are in the 9's on a stock ci engine....but that'll be some cash....
