Hooker vs. SLP catback
I am debating between a Hooker or an SLP catback right now and I just want to know if somebody with the Hooker catback can tell me if your pipes have begun to rust or not. The Hooker is built with aluminized tubing and the SLP with stainless steel. Should i be worried about more rust with the Hooker?? My car is a DD and I drive in the rain sometimes....

I have heard pacesetter/ory/aerochamber and it sounds amazing, but I have lm1 on stock mani/cats and I love the sound. I also have a cutout in place of the lm1 resonator and its pretty calm. With the cutout closed its not much louder than stock muffler imo but definitely has a deeper tone with calm driving/hwy but a lot louder at wot. I run with my cutout open constantly and I love the sound and I can definitely stand it being louder when I get headers bc its still quieter than my friends 99 gt with no mufflers.

I've had the same debate on catbacks for the longest time now and just finally decided to stay with my SLP DD But I think I would get the Hooker catback over LM1 IMO. Not bashing the loudmouths, I just like muffler style catbacks.

I see people say this but the only way I could see it happening is if you live on the coast where everything rust anyway.
I have had mine for 6yrs & no rust at all. Car is daily driven year round.
I wouldnt trade my Hooker for ANY SLP brand exhaust. IMO most SLP products are over priced & under perform.

i have pacesette lt/ory/hooker cat back and its not bad, its pretty tame at idle and it gets loud after 2k. and YES it is rusting. In fact the driver side hanger broke from it being so rusted

And as far as price, I believe it's the cheapest catback out there for our cars, except for maybe the TSP rumbler (which I believe isn't stainless).
I agree that their headers are pretty ridiculous, and what gets you is the shipping charges if you have to order directly from SLP
I like how my LM system fit and for the price couldn't be beat. I bought it to do the BorlaMouth anyways. Way cheaper than the Borla catback, tips aren't as ugly and IMHO sounds better than the Borla catback.

What exactly do you have to do to make a borlamouth? Just put a borla resonator in place of the SLP one?

I've had both setups, stock manifolds i'd go with a slp. Headers, ory , and loudmouth are awful sounding imo its way to raspy. The hooker i've had for about a year but thats only 1500 miles maybe so i couldn't tell you about the rusting but as far as sound with headers definately a hooker. and yea you just replace mufflers to make a borlamouth, i think people have made dynomouths, and magnamouths.

+1 for Hooker, seems to have more tone. A friend has pretty much the same car as mine only in Firebird form with a LM1 and it's obnoxious....so much in fact he recently got a street racing ticket in town for speeding up to merge in the right lane to turn.
Mine's been on the car for 5+ years, which atleast 2 of those saw daily driver duty. Not a bit of rust anywhere.

The XR1 is a tight fit but it'll fit. I had an exhaust shop do mine. It looks like it hangs super low from the rear, but it doesn't really hang much lower than my y-pipe

Yes, that's the muffler. It's not really that small. It's larger than the LM mufflers.
The SLP LM systems are 3". Some ppl go with magnaflow or dynomouth bullet mufflers also in place of the LM muffler.
