Replacement Air Flow Straighteners

I ordered a 96 I hope it fits the ls2 maf. Last edited by sabersaw30; Jul 26, 2011 at 06:58 PM.
The hardest part was getting the stock screen out; go slow and watch the fragile internals! When installing the new screen you will probably want to roll the screen lightly over a flat surface to shape it, also ensure you press it in squarely. When the install was finished I soaked it down with some cleaner, blew it out with some compressed air and picked out any metal flecks with a straight dental pick.
Did it show difference? I can't honestly say.
If only because I cleaned the really dirty MAF sensor elements while I was in there and that woke/cleared the car right up. I'd had some fueling issues previously and the car is much more inline with where it should be now under PE (and will probably react better to the revised VE table I have sitting here).
The car does operate just fine and saw no idle changes despite the dirty MAF sensor. It seems to be getting really good gas mileage having gone 100+ miles and being Auto-X'd on just a 1/4 tank (my Turbo Buick took a 1/2 tank to do the same). My wife didn't notice any significant change so that kept me out of the dog house.
I'll do the TBSS in the next day or so and report back.
I'm happy with the results. I pulled the screen out, forced this one in, and started driving. My engine seems smoother now as it pulls through the rpm band. Maybe it's a "placebo effect," but I like how my car is running after the install.
The actual product itself is too thick for the stock TBSS MAF housing and I had to put some aluminum tape around the protruding portion (~1/4") to cover the sharp edges. Other than that it is fine.

I had the truck out last night doing some spark tuning and I must say this thing is pulling away like a raped ape with just an MAF pipe (CAI), shitty exhaust and a tune on 91 octane.
I'll be getting into the "VE" and MAF tuning over the next few weeks to see how much off the stock programming the truck has become.
I tried the new MAF sensor and it did nothing for the climbing idle.
Found out my stupid-high idle and surging wasn't b/c of the P&P TB or the MAF screen or anything.
When I installed it all (did it all at the same time) I also put on a new IAC sensor. Apparently they sent the wrong sensor to me. I ordered AC Delco 17113598... I guess they got it wrong. They lood identical on the outside, but the nipple itself was actually about a 1/4" shorter.
So, long story short, put the old IAC back on, and car drove like a dream. Then I put the old MAF back on that I did the screen in. I love my car again.
The last two months I've done Chrs1313 non-AC Ram Air, cleaned my K&N, re-sealed my lid, P&P Throttle Body, new TB gasket, and an SLp LM1 and I'm just now really getting to feel the difference.
I placed on order over a month ago ( 7-26-11 ) acouple of emails later ...his response is it my have gotten list in the mail and he will resend it . Well , still nothing .. and no email response from asking if he resent the order. I know it's only like $12 for the thing... For those interested .... You may not receive.
anyone can tell me where I can find this material ??
Thx
No issues with mine yet whatsoever, nor do I think there ever will be. I found the old screen I removed and crushed it flat from top to bottom just for the hell of it. Man, what a lot of area that thing was really restricting. I was kinda surprised.
I have a question about LS1. Wikipedia states it is only Corvette Camaro and Firebird for the US. Someone was asking me for a 75mm part for a LS1, but to my knowledge all LS1's are 85mm for Fbody and 100mm for Corvette. 75mm is like a v6 or daily driver.
It does say the LS1 motor went into the Australian Maloo and Clubsport which I have not seen before. Pretty sharp looking:

And every request for Corvette has been 98 or 100mm. I am sure there is smaller points in the flow, this will be at the point the MAF screen or cells are placed.
I own a 1998 Firebird V6 and it has honeycomb cells stock as does my Mitsubishi 3000GT that has 4 different pieces pre-MAF of two thicknesses (figures Japanese engineers would master this setup).
Does a stock Vette 92-2000 have a stock screen or some type of flow cells? Many folks tell me there is no stock screen in Vette. Cars nowdays use a completely different setup with a funnel type MAF collector.
How about the vehicles with plastic square grid, I believe a 90's Nissan runs these, Anyone have a MAF like this on a rig?
Hey a pic on your site shows a Camaro with a red center console. Where do you get one of those, it is awesome. A stock RS is not like that, at least all the ones I have seen parked were gray.
