I did put one of these screens in my 85mm GM MAF. Prior the idle had an ever so slight stumble on occasion and since adding this it is either gone or reduced below my detection. For the price, I think it is a great investment since it allows more flow than stock but is better than running with no screen (especially for those of us with 90* bends in the intake tract.

I had no problems with descreened stock, or descreened SLP MAF, but I didn't want any issues during next tune so I installed the aluminum photomesh. I appreciate the info. I could have done a better job making it neater on edges but if I ever do it again I will take more time.

just installed the air straightener for my 99 camaro. so far ive noticed a better idle before it was at 900 rpm now its around 750. just need drive it a couple miles to see if it help get some better mpg.

So guys, just for confirmation...

GM 85mm MAF I need the same ratio and all as an LS1 MAF, but select the 96mm diameter, correct? I just want to ensure it doesn't PROTRUDE OUT from the lip of the MAF itself.

3/16, 5:1, and 96mm correct?

Wow ! I started this in 2011 and it's still going. With my sock maf I used the 5/8" thickness. I laid the screen on a flat surface, put the maf on top and pushed down.
At first it will look like the screen protrudes out, but if you look into the maf opening you'll see a step down. Just push on the maf until the screen seats into the step down.

Am not claiming that what has been offered in this thread isn't beneficial to those without access to modifying their MAF table. Am simply agreeing w/ jblue that in the models discussed here, that also use screens, tuning the MAF table & then leaving the area around the MAF alone is more effective. Simply rotating the MAF can alter the airflow & render the MAF table in-correct.
