Default Best Sounding Exhaust For Stock Cars.

I might be the first to start a thread about this, or maybe I didnt search enough, but here it goes. I would like to know what would be the best growl, low deep tone when it comes down to a stock camaro or trans am for us guys that still have their cars stock. I went from a flowmaster 80 series to straight pipe true duals chamber 10s, then back to cat delete stock y pipe slp LM1 which is too loud and raspy and now got a modified exhaust ticket. I live in LA. I would love to get Headers, but cant at the moment so till then what can you recommend as a best sound for a stock car. True duals, Y pipe, Cats or High flow cats or no cats and brand name or not mufflers? Sorry for this long thread, just wanting some good responses. Thanks you.

Exhaust tone is really subjective, you can ask 100 people and get a hundred different answers. I personally like the way the LM sounds especially on a stock car, but magnaflow is a close 2nd.

For a stock car, I would say LM1 for sure. I had it on my 00 SS with everything else stock, and it really sounded nice. Not too loud at all, it sounded beautiful. I wish I had taken a video though.

The Hooker catback also sounds very nice on a stock car, that's what I currently have on my WS6. I really like the sound/tone. It's a reasonable price too. The only thing I don't like about the system is that it's not stainless. But oh well, it came on the car when I bought it. Hope that helps a bit! I'll see if I can get a vid posted for you, as right ont my LT's aren't installed so it's back to the stock manifolds and Y.

I had the LM2 with stock exhaust and loved it. Finally got enough $ to buy a catted Y and headers, but kept the LM2 setup.

TSP 1 7/8 Headers, Custom Magnaflow merge Y pipe, SLP 2OTL. It is within 1 or 2 HP of loudmouth setup without the headache or attention.

Hooker is the only one I've seen that sounds good no matter whats in between it and the engine. Headers/manifolds, cats/no cats. It always sounds good.

i like the sound of the flowmaster on a manifold/ory car.

i think it'd sound very good with a "y" pipe instead of the "t" pipe that i have with the mac ory...

I really like the way the Corsa Sport catback sounds and looks on these cars, expensive but worth it in my opinion. At a time, my fathers '02 WS6 had a Corsa Sport and an SLP lid, everything else stock and it sounded amazing. Again, the Corsa is expensive but well worth it for both looks and sound.

Since we're on this topic, has anyone ever heard an LS1 car with the stock manifold's/catback with an O/R Y?
