I really wish that (Intake rant)
A company would make a decent looking, good flowing intake that is not metal at a reasonable price. I am trying to find a fast but I cannot justify paying $800+ for an ugly piece of used plastic.
/rant
anyone else in my boat?
Anyway its time to pick my poison. A great looking BBK metal intake or a light ugly looking LS6

I actually don't mind the look of the factory Intakes on these cars.
I agree 100% with the ridiculous price on the ugly chunk plastic that is called a F.A.S.T. Intake.
But they perform, man. And you gotta pay to play.
For now, I'm happy with the LS6 I installed a while back.
I suppose I'll eventually break down and spend the money on a used 90/90 or 92/92 Setup or if its applicable a new 102 Setup. If/When I do, I sure as hell am not going to bolt it on straight outta the box. It'll need to be painted flat black and if I can get the raised letters off that will be done as well. (When I spend anywhere near a thousand dollars for a part or parts, I see no reason to have to advertise for them as well.)

The bbk is actually my favorite looking intake by far. I just dont like the idea of adding an extra 15 lbs to the front end. I believe the LS1/LS6 intakes are 9 lbs and the BBK is 24. In the end though a new BBK is at least half the cost of a used fast lol

Plus, if you really dont wanna shell out $750 go with the LS6 intake. It performs almost as well as an unported/improperly ported FAST (within 5-10 rwhp) and is quite a bit stronger which means you could more safely use nitrous with it.

really? they make similar power?

If I could find an LS6 for around $250 I would buy it. I am kind of leaning towards BBK though because I want something new and nice looking.

From everything I read on a basically stock car a LS6 performs just as well as a FAST its when you get into high powered cars that you see the bigger differences between the two.
And IDK if Im just not as picky when it comes to appearance of parts but to me the LS1,LS6,FAST, and BBK intakes all look the same for the most part besides color and the BBK and FAST have their brand on it.

Yeah its 80mm. I might actually pick up a used ls6 and paint it gloss black. Fast is evil and they got everyone by the *****

I love my BBK. Looks good, installs VERY easily, no need to eliminate EGR, or move any cooling lines. Looks good and can easily be painted to make it look even better. Most dyno results I have seen show gain through the entire power range with the BBK and not just the top end. Just a couple of reason why I chose to go with the BBK. JMO

Nope…… I paid under $800 for a brand new FAST. just gotta know where to look.
That's because they're the same design.

I kept mine. After doing the free EGR mod and cutting the pipe I don't really see a need to except to clean up the engine bay a little. Doesn't hurt hp and I really don't care to ride around with a SES light on until I can get the code tuned out.
My point was that you don't have to worry about going through the trouble of removing the EGR and getting block off plates for the exhaust manifolds if you don't want to. Depends on a person's situation. Also he may need to keep it if he lives in a state with exhaust regulations.

I'm sure the profit margin for the FAST intakes is ridiculously high. Even if I had money to burn, I'd still refuse to buy that outrageously overpriced hunk of plastic. No way those things could cost more than $100-150 each to mass produce....so those greedy Wilson executives are raking in $600-700 pure profit on each manifold they sell.

PLus, if they were making that much money dont you think someone else would make an intake to compete?
I read an article about FAST investing over a million dollars into the new intake.
