Default LS1 throttle body by-pass

02 WS6
I am a retired jet engine tech, but when it comes to my TA Ls1tech is my "go to guys".
Regarding TB by-pass mod. I have seen here were the TB has been taken out of the coolant loop by running the long hose. There is even a "kit" on Ebay for $35.00 to do this also. WHY??
My question to the board is: Why not cap the coolant T-line at the engine. Cap the other end at the radiator neck. Then cap both fittings on the TB.
Total parts: 4 hose caps/plugs and clamps.
Recap: Coolant blocked at engine and radiator.
TB fittings caped to seal off the air.

Any one have a problem with this way of doing it??
Thanks guys

Do it how you please. As long as it's not leaking any out then you'll be all set!

I've always been taught, by reading here, you do NOT want to block off the steam tubes. I simply bought 3/8" heater hose and 2 1/4" worm clamps and had problem solved. Right around three bucks, if I remember correctly.

I didn't plug the tubes on the TB right away, b/c I wanted all that liquid gone, evaporated, and dry. They've since been plugged though.

you don't want to block the steam tubes. i did the same just got some hose and used the clamps that were already there.

Default Steam?

Thanks for the input.
The use of the term "steam" has me confused.
H2O when heated in a closed system expands, and in this case pressurers over into the overflow tank. Doesn't make a vapor. It should be hot water that is flowing thru the TB. Not stream. Cap the lines to TB. No hot water to heat it. Coolant flows to all over areas as it should.

But Im heeding the advise, and going the by-pass hose route.

I'm not sure what a 'steam' tube is either, but the line coming from the heads allows trapped air pockets to escape your heads.

the steam tubes are an H shaped pipe that runs underneath your intake.....if you look underneath the front of your intake you will see a little metal tube that leads to a square right next to each head....they get steam pockets out of the block, and really have nothing to do with the tb.

I run my nitrous purge thru the tb coolant passages to give it a coolant effect with a hose out the outlet. I dont know if it helps but it has to cool it.

Because that line doesnt actually go into the air inlet on the throttle body. The nitrous purge idea is pretty sweet though!

You need a 3/8s to 1/4 fitting, you can reuse the stock clamps. You can leave the TB ports open, it won't hurt anything

just make sure the hose is radiator hose to withstand heat, since when I bought my car someone did it with a gas hose and it tore and started dripping its like $5 on autozone
