I just bought my car which already had ARH LT's installed. I went to do the oil change and noticed there is no way in hell to fit a socket over the drain plug.. the driver side header is just too close. I had to use a wrench which wasnt a big deal but then the oil just spilled all over the header. Which again wasnt a big deal either, but I was curious if this was a common thing with ARH design? On my old car the Pacesetter header were nowhere near as close as the ARH is to the oil drain plug. The only thing via search I found was the thread below... but if this is a common thing I expected to see a lot more posts about it.

It's really not that big of a deal.

Just use a wrench and wipe the longtube after finishes draining. It really doesn't create a mess unless you're a retard.

 

Right. Im not trying to say its a problem here, after it drains for like 10 secs it doesnt go on the header anymore... I just want to understand if this is normal for ARH... thats all. I just find it odd I havnt really seen any threads about this at all, except the one I posted.

 

It's normal. They are big headers.

 

I'm lost? I get to the filter and drain fine. Can even get the starter in and out, some you can't and have loosen the header or take the motor mount out.
I have 1 7/8th ARH

go do an oil change on a ford where the oil filters are horizontal

 

I just cut up an old 16oz water bottle & use it as a diverter to the oil trap. Works great & not a drop of oil on the tubes.

 

OK I read this thread a few times but still not sure. Is the "problem" that when the oil is draining it flows on the header tube at 1st?
And you can't get a socket and have to use a wrench on the drain plug. Is that it?

 

You'd be pretty surprised. I think both are great headers. I'm assuming your confidence comes from first hand experience with both brands?

I must admit that I would have never bought them @ the new price.
I found my LT's/Catted Y on craigslist for $500. I love these stainless tubes but at the same time for the price I would have paid for these ARH LT's & CattedY new, I could have bought the TSP equivalent to my LTs, TSP Y or TD's & a nice catback & n'used LS6 Intake mani ............

Thanks for posting that pic... you can see in that pic how close the driver side header gets to the drain plug. Since people dont seem to know what im talking about. I mean its not that close, but not enough room for a socket and ratchet.

Yes, but again I never said it was a problem... I just wasnt sure if this was normal for ARH. Im not trying to start any **** talking thread, I was just curious if this was normal or if something was wierd about my car or maybe I didnt even have ARH like I was told.

I just wasnt satisfied with how few ppl actually posted in that thread. I figured there must be hundreds of people running ARH but it doesnt look that way.
