13.15 is a good run!

In related news.. a 2500Hd long bed DESTROYED me from a redlight friday morning cos he wanted my lane. so.. I think you're doing quite well by comparison.

You'll be high 12s easy with a bit more work.

Well the tires didn't bite that much. My dad held the gas to the floor from the start and just waited for them to hookup. Im sure if i get the mt's nice and warm I could squeeze a 12.9.

please never let that happen again, and if it does happen again keep it to yourself, like someone who has been touched inappropriately.

I have the slowest ls1 Fbody out there. It can't spin tires unless the road is wet.

myfirst, what tires are on your car now? I have some cheapy "riken raptor" tire that was the cheapest thing I could get to get the car rolling after I bought it. I plan to upgrade eventually.

Also even on street tires if you're getting a lot of spin off the line you might be able to shave a tiny bit of time off by NOT flooring it as soon as the light turns to reduce the spin. I mean you'll come out of it slower, but ya know.. if you're spinning tires you're wasting time. Unless you're showing off or something.

its funny cuz its true

OP: good luck. when people in my family get their mid set there is nothing you can do about it. i hope its different with your dad and the stall. but just remember you have a lifetime to work on your car so don't feel like you have to rush things.

i still have my birthday money from august because i'm still planning out my build.

First time I ran on a track tonight. First time I got a 14. Something and then for the next 4 passes I had 13.2 at 105 with 60's from 2.00 to 2.1 it's 80 degrees here tonight so I will hopefully squeeze that 12.9 with better air

Sounds like you have a solid low 13 car. You might even reach 13 flat.

Be happy. It's pretty respectable for a relatively stock car.

Now go do some power work.

Alright my dad and I have been talking and we want a faster car. Since a converter is out of the question (which sucks), how can I get in the 12's? Would bigger injectors help? How about a fast 92mm intake with the bigger throttle body? But like I said, no converter and no nitrous. dads rules.

Bigger injectors are unnecessary unless you're going with F/I. Honestly, you're quickest upgrade to get to 12's would be a set of 3.73-4.10 gears. (DD-3.73 or for strip-3.90, 4.10) Yes, I know everybody is going to say the 10 bolt sucks but not everybody has the coin to swap to a 12 bolt or 9in

What upgrades will your dad allow? I've never been impressed with the gains from intake/tb swaps, but to each his own...

He is open to heads/cam further down the road. Our friends at the trans shop say a 9 inch is one of the best things you can do to these cars, so maybe that. Idk though, would a 9 inch get me in the 12's?

It would have to be 4.10 if we changed the rear end.

The 9in robs the most hp but is one of the most durable. My opinion is, if it's not broke, don't fix it, but always keep an eye out at salvage yards for a used one...it will eventually break.

4.10's in your 10 bolt and SFC's will get you to 12.9x...probably your most budget friendly option

Do gears and weight reduction. Should get you there to your 12s.

I gotta ask about the gears. But I will mention weight reduction and nitrous and cam/heads and my dad says "well i want a nice car we can drive. I don't Want to do all that ****". Lol I told him he is in the wrong game if that's the case. Yet he wants to go faster.

With all due respect to your pops, he needs to do some research before he spouts off something, gears/weight reduction are proven already and doesn't compromise nice things about your car.

Taking off the jack/spares/backseats and seatbelts will lose substantial amount of weight and there are more things you can do.

Go to drag racing forums and just lurk around and read the stickies.

Like others have stated, heads/cam is moot point if you don't get a stall to use the power/torque you gained efficiently. Stall will put your car in the powerband that you need to run the car faster. What kills the 4L60E is the heat (bigger tranny cooler to cool it) and then not being tuned with mods you have.

When my car was stalled auto, Yank converter 3500 ST with tuned for shift points/shift extension and slight increase of line pressure, my car was a beast for a bolt ons car. It ran 12.2-12.3 @ 110 MPH. This was still on stock suspension- 3.42 rear- no UD pulley, and just worn out MT ET streets swapped for the rear tires. Street tires it was running mid 12s.

What soo sweet with stalled auto when done right (tuned), you wouldn't know it has an aftermarket converter during normal driving until you mash the gas to the floor and you just hold on to your dear life.

In my 2000 Z28 M6 mods were just headers, gear, and a lid. Stock ls1 intake, pulley, on street tires I was cutting 2.0 60s and running 13.1. Went to a set of M/T et streets and cut bottom 1.9s and ran 12.80s launching at 5k dead hooking. A buddy of mine in his 01 ws6 A4 had 323s stock and a lid was his only mod cut 2.0 60s and ran 13.5 on street tires he never slipped a wheel. If you want your dad to let you mod your car do what I did at that age. Print off a million threads where people are using the parts you want and show him all the positive things they've said about it and hope for the best.
