Try swapping the LMII muffler..it is cheap, and might fix the issue.

I have 1 3/4" hookers, 3" hooker ORY and SLP LM1 with no cats. I love how loud it is but I'd like to kill some of the rasp as well. I had always considered adding 2 round hi flow cats right after the headers to kill the rasp.
But what I am seeing from you guys is that it wont do any good since those would be before the merge in the Y? Is that true?
I've thought about going with a LM2 and maybe even those new resonators that SLP has out for the fbodies but I dont know if they will do any good either.
I checked out ls1sounds but I still here a lot of rasp in many of those setups as well. Its just that low speed, around town-lug rasp that I cant stand.

yeah ur basically asking for it when you buy slp LM1, might aswell jus weld a straight pipe through it cuz it doesnt resonate ****. LM2 won't help you either, its not night and day.
Personally, I'd switch to a magnaflow muffler, its still a straight through design but it won't be nowhere near as loud as a slp. You won't notice a performance difference, if you want both better sound and performance get a true dual system.

I have a tsp ory pipe and changed from a lm1 to a borla xr1 muffler. It was insanely loud at first with a ton of rasp. Now its still loud with no rasp and sounds a lot more controlled and better. My buddy has a mangaflow bullet muffler with lt's and ory pipe and his **** is QUIET. Sounds like he just has a normal catback exhuast on it.

In my opinion even with stock manifolds and no cats the lm1 sounds good. Once you add longtubes and a cam, then it justs sounds like an caged animal waiting to get out. The tone goes out the window and it sound like ****

I have heard they cause a clunk and squeaking when they start to go bad. The squeaking will sound like its coming out of the steering wheel itself but its not.

Yeah I didnt buy the LM1 catback. It was on the car when I bought it. It sounded great with mac mids and a mac catted y. Sounded GREAT! But the longtubes and no cats killed it.
I have made my mind up, I am going with the Borla XR-1 and the TSP y pipe.

It would still be going through the merge, so no. If you put on your Pacesetter Y-pipe you would have seen what everyone's talking about as it garbage at best. I got stuck with one after waiting over a month for a TSP Y-pipe and needed to get it ready before the Power Tour this year so I said screw it and went with the Pacesetter. Been wanting to ditch it ever since :/ Running Borla adjustable with a cutout in place of the adjuster plates; sounds mean and nasty with it open and almost as quiet as a catback only car with it closed, but a lot of rasp above 2K RPMs both ways.
