Try swapping the LMII muffler..it is cheap, and might fix the issue.

The lower column steering bearing? What is your car doing .. or better my shaft that comes out of the firewall rattles i really have not had time to see why it is . What does this bearing cause when it goes out

how about a magnaflow merge? It's cheap at about 30 bucks and its a quality stainless piece that flows good. I would go with that and some sort of bullet muffler.

LTs with an ORY, Flowmaster Merge, And LM exhaust should sound good, without a good flowing merge, RIDICULOUS RASP! but im those type of people that enjoy that. ;]

I have 1 3/4" hookers, 3" hooker ORY and SLP LM1 with no cats. I love how loud it is but I'd like to kill some of the rasp as well. I had always considered adding 2 round hi flow cats right after the headers to kill the rasp.

But what I am seeing from you guys is that it wont do any good since those would be before the merge in the Y? Is that true?

I've thought about going with a LM2 and maybe even those new resonators that SLP has out for the fbodies but I dont know if they will do any good either.

I checked out ls1sounds but I still here a lot of rasp in many of those setups as well. Its just that low speed, around town-lug rasp that I cant stand.

yeah ur basically asking for it when you buy slp LM1, might aswell jus weld a straight pipe through it cuz it doesnt resonate ****. LM2 won't help you either, its not night and day.

Personally, I'd switch to a magnaflow muffler, its still a straight through design but it won't be nowhere near as loud as a slp. You won't notice a performance difference, if you want both better sound and performance get a true dual system.

I have a tsp ory pipe and changed from a lm1 to a borla xr1 muffler. It was insanely loud at first with a ton of rasp. Now its still loud with no rasp and sounds a lot more controlled and better. My buddy has a mangaflow bullet muffler with lt's and ory pipe and his **** is QUIET. Sounds like he just has a normal catback exhuast on it.

Also my buddy has longtubes with a lm2 exhuast and it still gets loud but at lower rpms it doesn't have the drone that the lm1 has

I have the SLP LM1 on my car and it sounds awesome with the stock manifolds & stock cats. What sucks is I want to keep it sounding exactly the same but would like to install a set of LT's and a ORY, but the LM1 sounds like **** with that setup.

In my opinion even with stock manifolds and no cats the lm1 sounds good. Once you add longtubes and a cam, then it justs sounds like an caged animal waiting to get out. The tone goes out the window and it sound like ****

I didn't notice mine at all until I pulled the steering arm off to do the longtubes. I saw that the white plastic on the bearing was cracked. Went to pull the retaining clip and cover off and I dropped the retaining clip into mud and couldn't find it. So now I have to order a bearing and retaining clip.

I have heard they cause a clunk and squeaking when they start to go bad. The squeaking will sound like its coming out of the steering wheel itself but its not.

Yeah I didnt buy the LM1 catback. It was on the car when I bought it. It sounded great with mac mids and a mac catted y. Sounded GREAT! But the longtubes and no cats killed it.

I have made my mind up, I am going with the Borla XR-1 and the TSP y pipe.

Just go longtubes, no use going with mids or shorties unless its for emissions.

If you're using the pacesetter Y pipe, would a cutout at the end of the merge resolve the whole performance issue of the merge?

It would still be going through the merge, so no. If you put on your Pacesetter Y-pipe you would have seen what everyone's talking about as it garbage at best. I got stuck with one after waiting over a month for a TSP Y-pipe and needed to get it ready before the Power Tour this year so I said screw it and went with the Pacesetter. Been wanting to ditch it ever since :/ Running Borla adjustable with a cutout in place of the adjuster plates; sounds mean and nasty with it open and almost as quiet as a catback only car with it closed, but a lot of rasp above 2K RPMs both ways.
