Headers and true duals on a lowered car... can good ground clearance be had?
I want to have a custom exhaust built for my 01 SS.. dual, xpipe and a cme, but every shop tells me it cant be done without serious ground clearance issues. Ground clearance is a concern to me, my current lack of it is the reason for a new system (road barrel base run over at highway speed). Does anyone have an example of dual exhaust with good pics that i can take to my builder so he can use it as a template in building my system?

Its really not hard. For max clearance go with a 2.5 kit. I had a 3 inch system on my 96 that had more clearance than stock, but i hammered the back seat area to make it work

With a 2.5" TD setup yes it can.. I have my car slammed and run with 2.5" true duals using some sweet thunder mufflers ran tight against each other like shotgun tubes with Kooks 1 7/8" headers and cats.
Here is a shot I just took of it. I replaced the cats and the paint was marking it up as a template. its much easier to mock up on the ground this way.
I have no undercarrage shots but the mufflers are tight up in the tunnel. the cats are 3" inlet and outlet that I made my own transitions to 2.5" pipe. the Drivers side I actually ovaled the pipe a bit to clear the crossmember.
An older shot of the clearance.. since this shot I tucked it up higher into the tunnel so the lowest hanging part is the cats and and the headers.

Well that's what I'm thinking...I really like his setup and how it works, but it goes into a single. Now if it went into a single 4", that would be a bit better...but even still. Granted, it'd probably be fine for street and cut outs used when you really need the extra power...but yeah.

I have cut/notched/welded a few torque arms to create ground clearance for dual bullets under the driveshaft. Worked like a dream, be tough finding someone that's willing to do that though.
