Default Craigslist 243 head questions

I found a pair of 243 heads on Craigslist. The guy says they are milled 30 one thousandths, I'm not too familiar with milling heads, is that a very big difference or just smoothing it basically to get a smooth surface? Will this effect rod length? Also the guy bought them for a project and isn't using them but he's not sure what car they came off of, the springs are silver. Possible to tell based on color of springs?

if they have silver springs they are possibly not the ls6 style 243 with hollow stem intake and sodium filled exhaust valves, depending on your application you should still be fine with them milled .030.. i had a set of 317's milled .040 and didnt have any problems... how much are they? lol if there cheap enough i might steal them from ya

30 thou isn't alot but it's more than a clean up. It really depends on your set up, cam size etc

just make sure you get some new pushrods a .030 mill will effect your pushrod length but you should be fine running pretty much any medium sized cam with those heads should you ever choose to do so.

Yea you will need to switch pushrods at minimum to use those heads...I would also very they are only a 30 mill and not too far to the point the intake won't line up...Craigslist ppl can be shifty just cover all basis

As said they should be fine, they just have regular valves. I plan on doing the same thing with my setup.

$300 is the lowest I've seen. For low mileage, 40k or less, I've been seeing them for around $500. The set I found is $375 and 35k miles.

$300 is a great price imo. If it needs any unexpected work, you got them on the cheap.
