I ordered some new GMPP valve covers for the 403 build going into my IROC. I wanted some nice valve covers, so I picked these up:

So I noticed on the box that they're made in USA. Great! Then I flip over the valve cover. China. How the hell can the box say USA when the valve covers are clearly made in China.

The covers look great, but overall, I'm very disappointed that I just paid $320 for chinese parts. That's USA-made pricing.
My other complaint is that the stock oil cap won't work with these. I already bought a new oil cap made to work with stock covers that I want to use instead of the cheap chrome one that came with these, so I'm going to have to get creative to figure out how to incorporate it.

Yea it's 70%, that much needs to be done in the u.s. to be considered. Clearly they were cast in china from more than likely chinese alloy so you cant tell me that painting them and sticking in the little breather tube accounts for 70% because thats all thats left to do. Something isn't right there. I would be pissed.

ofcourse, that 70% accounts for materials and labor. It could be US aluminum, cast in China and machined and finished in the US.
also, remember this as well...
Most crankshaft companies (Eagle, Callies, Scat...etc) all have made in USA labels on their budget versions, but they are all off shore cast, but machined and finished in the states. Callies is right here in Fostoria, Ohio.
Their Compstar line is all off shore cast but machined in Fostoria. They still carry the made in USA label.
