Spintech needs to market this exhaust, I never heard of it till the other day....a guy was selling something similar in the classifieds.

Is this something you had Spintech make for you or are they selling it as a complete catback?
Definitely one of my favorites catbacks for these cars..I always tried to pickup an original 2OTL, but those are bought as soon as they are posted for sale. Spintech made this for a member that posted in this thread. They are now selling it as a catback, avail in aluminized or stainless steel. Check the below link, just call and talk to them, pretty nice folks. I ordered on a Monday and received it Friday.

We need some more video, some revs and maybe some acceleration clips. That thing sounds great at idle!

I will try to get some more vids up. This catback sounds great at speed, no rasp, just deep tones at hwy speeds...This is a full bolt-on, no cats, cammed car, not sure how accurate idle and rev videos will be for stock manifold/y-pipe guys looking for a catback. I am pretty confident it would still sound great, by all accounts spintech has been making great stuff for years, just no personal experience outside of this car.

That's neat that somebody finally made this for the aftermarket. Just wish their mufflers flowed like the real 2otl

Prolly pretty close, I bet if you made the system with a Magnaflow muffler it would be almost identical.

I had priced and was mapping out my own 2OTL with a Magnaflow single 3 inch in dual 2.5 out muffler, Walker I pipe and over the axle pipe, a single 180* horse shoe bend in 2.5 stainless and a stick if 2.5 inch stainless pipe but one popped up on the board and I snatched it up.

I bet the setup I had put together would have mirrored the 2OTL real close.

Before I put the 2OTL on the car I had a stock exhaust with a Magnaflow 3 inch in/out muffler with a turndown under the drivers side of the bumper, sound and performance was VERY similar to the 2OTL, within 5 RWHP.

Yeah any straight thru style mufflers would perform the same. I was just talking about spintech specifically.

It says for 93-97 cars, did you have to do anything to fit it on your 99?

no fitment issues at all, those cars are pretty much the same with regard to the body, hangers were even in the right place...

I'm lucky to have an original SLP 2OTL system on my car. Best sounding exhaust for the f-body cars ever made IMO. It's a shame they don't make it anymore.

I'm bringing this one back from the dead. I remember reading this thread a couple years ago and its always kind of stuck in the back of my head. Used to have a 2OTL years ago and loved the sound of it. Matter of fact I loved it so much I want to replicate the sound of it on my Tahoe project. In searching for a 2OTL muffler I came across Jones Max Flow muffler on eBay. This one in particular has a flow through muffler that is nearly identical looking to the SLP version, its even stainless steel construction. The model number is MF2288. 3" in and dual 2.5" out. Case length is 18", width is 8", height is 5". The description lists it as a straight through design, perforated pipe with stainless steel mess and fiberglass packing. I'm picking one up this week and the best part is that its only around $50.00. That isn't a typo. A quick search on this muffler revealed that Summit Racing also carries this muffler. I would post a link to it but my phones cut/paste is acting weird.

Anyway, I'm hoping to have this thing installed on my Tahoe in the next couple weeks. Will give a review of how close this sounds to a 2OTL muffler after its installed. There may be some hope for a 2OTL muffler replacement just yet.

I got the muffler and I'm having it installed this week. I took a few pics of it. I gotta say, for a 50 dollar muffler I was not expecting the quality to be this nice. It's freakin 409 stainless!! Can't wait to hear this thing. There are a few differences in the way the merge is handled inside the muffler as you can see from the pics. But, I'm thinking it should sould very similar, but probably won't flow quite up to par with a real 2OTL.

I will report back with hopefully a sound clip once it's installed.

That looks pretty close to the SLP 2OTL muffler! I'd like to hear this on an F-Body!

It should sound very similar on the Tahoe. The Tahoe exhaust system is very similar in design (y-pipe to single 2-3/4" exhaust) to an Fbody, and the 5.3 engine will sound nearly the same as a stock 5.7 LS engine.

Well this new Jones Max Flow muffler sounds AWESOME!! It sounds eerily similar to the 2OTL muffler. At times it is hard to tell because I had my original 2OTL muffler installed on an LT1 with no cats and a cam. But the tone is almost identical, deep rumble at idle and the more you open up the throttle the more she barks. Haven't really opened it up past 5k rpms since the original Tahoe 5.3 has 240k miles on her, but this muffler is very nice and is exactly the tone I was aiming for. There is absolutely no cackling, popping or burbling when decelerating, even from a high rpm and manually downshifting the auto, just smooth as glass and very deep. Reminds me of an old school BBC to be honest.

It's probably just the louder sound playing with my head, but I swear it picked up some power. She really seems to pull up top now where before it would just kind of lay over above 3k. ??

I will try to get a video up soon. Again, this is a completely stock Tahoe exhaust with cats except for the new muffler. Hoping to have the new 5.7 engine, 1-7/8 headers, 228/230 cam, ported 799 heads and 3" exhaust installed by this fall and I'm definitely still using this muffler!!

I don't really see or understand what the big deal is…. I expected to open this and it be a awesome TD dual exit set up but instead I found a cross over that doesn't even exit on the same side. Please explain this to me and post SOME SOUND CLIPS…. Not hating just not educated at the moment.

Well if you have read through 3 pages of this thread and still don't get it then my suggestion is to move on. This system has a cult following particularly with people who have owned them at one time. The fact that SLP no longer makes this exhaust makes it even more intriguing and rare. As for sounds clips, youtube is your friend.
