Default Best intake option

Just got my 2nd car, 2000 triple black z-28 camaro. 25k miles. Already going to buy SLP's Loudmouth exhaust, looking into whats the best option intake wise to go with, I see K&N has a cold air, they have a Lid and so does SLP. And what you would expect to pay for it.

Located in Weston, fl. SouthWest Broward county. My other car is a white 1986 Monte Carlo SS, w/ 47k original miles.

You can get a lid from any of the sponsors on the right--------------------->

Or you can check the classifieds. Most lids are the same but you can get them in plain black, clear, carbon fiber, etc. They usually run about 100 bucks

What about K&N kit summit number ((KNN-57-3022-2).Does this have better flow/power then any of the lids w/ just a K&N filter in it?

I would look at a different filter. K&N requires a gasket to work on our cars. I prefer the Holley...

But was there a power advantage w/ this kit, did it flow better then a new lid/filter?

It's difficult to determine because I never did a back to back dyno on the same day. However dyno's performed in relatively similar temps yielded +2-3(K&N fipk) rwhp but again you can't rely on a dyno to always give the same results on different dates. Also the K&N is fully exposed when the hood is open on the dyno.

The K&N is built exceptionally well, but a lid (atleast in my case) will provide equal results and allow additional $$$ for other mods.

I went back to the LS1 motorsports lid and bellow, fit is perfect for both.

And whats the diff between the 2 bellows on that site, both 40 bucks, one says direct flow the other doesnt. The one you recommend has a slight bend, the other looks to be straight.

You'll find many people have different opinions on what works best for them. In my case this is what I first replaced my stock intake with and this is what I ended up going back to (with recent addtion of the LS1 Bellows).

Get the one that is made by LS1 motorsports, I believe the other is made by SLP. Look closely at the one by LS1 motorsports (1/4 mile perf) - it has a curve to it which improves fitment.

Hope this helps,
Andy

id stay with the lid as well. i own the quartermileperformancce lid and it is great, also i went with the holley filter. The loudmouth is a great exuast if you plan on running Cats, but if ur gunna put long tubes on and remove the cats its probally to loud. Im running a slp LM with headers and cats, and it is just right for me, maybe too loud for others.
