Default Finally took the cats off :)

After complaining about my car not being loud enough with long tubes and loudmouth 1 I finally decided to get the cats off the car. It still has a very quiet idle (oh well) Once it gets up to 2500 its rasps out abit (sounds cool imo) then it gets deep and loud. Wot is probably nascar loud. I finally have decent ground clearence again which is a plus. Over all I am happy, I can keep the car stock like quiet when I need to with the 6 speed. The only thing that seems weird is I feel like I lost abit of low end torque.

Nice! Not a big fan of the ORY+LM1 but whatever works for you. My set up has a little rasp in the 1800-2200 range but I like it too. I know alot of people put powersticks in their GMMG setups to reduce it but I think it sounds cool.

I doubt that you are now in need a tune just because you took your cats off, especially if you have already been tuned for your bolt-on's.

I have a Magnaflow Catback, O/R Y and stock manifolds and my car is running very, very slightly rich without the cats, not even enough to make a difference.

I can def smell the exhaust now. I was thinking it may have lost a bit down low because there is no back pressure w/ this set up

I can smell my exhaust too, I deal with it everyday on my commute, I love it. That is what you smell when you have no cats. Don't get too caught up on the back pressure thing, I'm almost positive your car is no slower than it was before, plus it sounds better now

Are you guys freaking kidding??? Yes you need to get tuned. The cats, depending on how old, or clogged up they are, could make a huge difference when they are removed. Just like opening a cutout versus closed, it changes the A/F ratio. My old car had dual cutouts behind the long tubes and when I opened them my A/F was 13.4 because my car was tuned with them open...closed the car was 12.6...this is almost a full point, just cutouts. So imagine what cats do to it! Yes, 13.4 is a little lean...but my H/C/I forged motor liked being that lean with 31 degrees of timing!

^^Hmm, I don't know, I took my cats off of my stock car and it's only running about 1% rich or something very, very minor like that, not a big deal. If the OP's car has been tuned previously for the LT's, then I really don't think it would need to be immediately re-tuned just because he removed the cats.

Theres no point in getting a tune before I install the cam.
