Default Grand National Mod for 98 Z28?

So my Uncle and Cuz who have both had a few Grand Nationals were telling me that on those cars you can put a petcock on a heater hose that runs from the head to the throttle body. By doing this it reduces your intake temp and dyno proven to be 8hp. Did a little research and looks like many people have done it with GNs. My question is would it do anything for my 98 or is there a different reason that its on our cars than the reason for it being on an 86 GN? Whats gonna happen if I block it off? 8hp for $8 sounds like a really good thing to me! Anyone done this cause I havent heard about it on here?

I got a pretty much stock 98 6speed.

Well hell my bad guys, I didn't know... Thats why I get on here and ask questions. I didn't figure it would be anything that was gonna drop my quarter time by 2 tenths or anything.
