Default header+y+detachable cats?

Right now I have a borla adjustable catback system, on my 99z, does anyone make a header+y pipe package that comes with detachable cats and the swap on adaptors for inspection purposes?

I've been wondering the same thing. I know the cobra guys have an x pipe setup with removeable cats. It'd be nice if we did too.

sounds like a great idea but wouldn't there be a worry about exhaust leaks?

Not if there were adapter plates where they Exchange, maybe 3 bolts with nuts at each end and gaskets

If that was the case wouldn't you have to replace gaskets each time for a proper leak-less seal?

So here's what 02'Andy was talking about I believe:

With Cats

Cat Straight-Pipes

Great in theory but we already have clearance issues.
Maybe someone from TSP can chime in? That would be something I'm interested in hooking up to longtubes with a y-pipe that can convert back and forth.

That's the one. Couldn't remember who made it earlier this morning.

Yea I can now see how it should work but the clearance as is makes me think it's not possible.

I don't think we'd have the option of a universal one. But all the major exhaust companies for our cars sell catted H/X/Y pipes for their manifolds/headers. They have to take the clearance into account for those. The trick would just be making those cats detachable in the same place.

It's do-able, just probably not going to be worth the manufacturing changes to make it sell.

Jet Hot produced a 3" Modular Y-pipe up until 3 Years ago or so. I know because I have one of the last ones. The Merge on it isn't anything to brag about, but the very small (like 3" long is all) Cats could be removed and replaced with Off Road Test Pipes, that were the same size and included with the kit, by simply tearing apart the Y-pipe which was constructed of like 5 or 6 different pieces.

I know once Jet Hot discontinued them, that WS6Store.com had one available for a while that looked to be identical. I don't know if this one is still available or not, but if it is identical, it can be made to fit very nicely under a 4th Gen F-body. Which counts for a lot when it comes to the cramped underbody of our cars.
