Question Catted-Y or No Cats

Hey guys looking for some input. I finally made my decision and I'm going with TSP 1 7/8 headers. trying to figure out weather to get the TSP catted y or no cat y. I'm not concerned with emissions or passing inspection, I got that covered. I'm concerned with rasp. I already run my car with no muffler. (custom Y in the rear to my SLP center mount tip. Will the catted Y help to reduce the rasp of a fully open exhaust?

Yes it will reduce Rasp... But it will cost you.

My car passed the liberal mass inspection no problem. I run long tubes, off road y pipe to a loudmouth. There is rasp but you can avoid it by letting off the throttle a bit. Wot there is rasp no matter what.

Catted Y will definitely help, but it will only do so much because you are running no muffler, that itself is creating a TON of rasp.

On the street absolutely run cats. But first fix your muffler situation

If you're only worried about rasp, skip the cats and add a muffler. I just went ORY and the fumes are what bug me, so I'm pretty sure I'll be adding cats in the future.

For minimal rasp you'll need a muffler and catted y. But just a muffler should help cut quite a bit of it out. After that it's just a matter of what your tolerance is with the rasp. I'm running an ORY and Corsa catback from my headers, which does great with no droning, but I'm thinking of getting a catted Y because I still have rasp around 2000 rpms and under light acceleration (50% of my town driving).

Between catted and ORY, the ORY will have the most flow powerwise, but if you get good high flow cats the difference in HP isn't a lot.

I think at this point i'm gonna go with the TSP catted Y. I'll install the headers and Y, if it's too obnoxious then i'll have to do some sort of muffler. (really dont want to)
