I would probably opt for the LS6 mani.. However if you really want a FAST, ColoradoSpeed has a batch of FAST 92s they are selling, not sure how many or how long they will last.

Here is a decent read about the gains. The first page is good, then the OP updates on the last page. Don't pay attention to the tuning argument it kills a very good tech thread IMO.
https://ls1tech.com/forums/dynamomet...-result-6.html

The 102 needs a tuning tweak to get everything out of it. So make sure you have some extra dough set aside for it. I think some others will speak up from experience but the 102 TB is a PITA to get a tune on so going with a 92 will make your driving alittle better. Your not giving up anything between a 102 and 92 on a street 346.

The 92s colorado speed are selling are pointless. They are $50 bucks more than a new 102. If you paint the 102 yourself you save $30 bucks.

To each their own, I would pay the little bit extra for some rails to know I have a better intake. Having said that no way id pay full price for a 92, its a $650 dollar piece tops

Yah no way I would drop that kind of money on a new 92. BTW if you look on ebay a certain vender is selling the 102s right around 799 "BIN/Make offer" deal. If your in the market for a 102 I highly suggest you click on the "make offer" you will be fricking surprised at what you can pick a brand new 102 shipped for. I low balled them and got a counter offer, lets just say it was signifigantly lower than 799...

No...DO pay attention to the tuning banter...

it further reienforces arguments that tuning is key. even though some people think you dont "tune" a 102, just bolt it on and go.

that thread you posted, after reading all 6 pages, further states that the tune on that particular car is messed up. after bolting on the FAST 102 and TB, the "tuner" seen that the AFR didnt change at all, and decided not to make changes to the tune...leaving the OP to wonder why he lost power below 4-5K. so he bandaids it with a smaller TB and MAF to basically dumb down the incoming air so the computer can process it.

again, do NOT buy into the BS that a 102 is too big for a 346. it just takes a great tuner and a great tune to make it work properly on a smaller engine.

yeah but with a 102 you need new fuel rail, motor mounts, huge throttle body, and more than likely a new water pump so it all clears.

id rather spend the 50 bucks

Umm no. You can use a 92mm TB on it. Even if you use the 102 TB it is a few dollars more than the 92. And you dont need a waterpump, a dremel will easily clearance the stock pump. And idk who told you you need motormounts with this intake but that is also wrong

He's an idiot. Don't know what his deal with motor mounts is but he used that same excuse in the last thread.

If you have the money get a 102. If you have more money have it ported. With a good tune that intake is the best you can get for your car and its not too big. You just have to determine if you want to spend the money for it.

I just bought a ported one from vengance for 899 through their special. I am upgrading from an ls6 and doing a head and cam swap as well. Motor mounts are not necessary for the swap

I wasn't aware motor mounts had anything remotely close to do with an intake swap. FWIW I also didn't touch my stock 2000 water pump.

Josh and KYturbo just sold a complete FAST 92 setup (very nice I might add) for 800$... They are out there if you look for them and don't get raped.

FWIW I have owned a ported 90 and was one of the first to own a 102, which was also ported. Both on stock bottom H/C 346s, both picked up nice power.

Don't worry I was a rape victim for a fast but I wanted it. Paid$1000 for a fast 90. It is fully ported with all brand new bolts and gaskets but still too much lol
