ls6 or fast
https://ls1tech.com/forums/generatio...02-thread.html
I've been debating buying a fast so I can put my LS6 intake on my 89.
you'll need a tb, fuel rails, and either grind your water pump our get a LS2 pump
Is a FAST intake worth the extra money? On a nearly stock (stock heads & cam) LS1, I say hell no, not a chance. But with big heads and cam, comes more gains from the bigger intake, so then you're getting more horsepower per dollar.
You needs heads and compression to take full advantage but remember that FAST do max stall out if you put large enough cyl heads on the car.
When I first sold the LS6 (my stocker) to a friend, he gained 70 rwhp over stock c5 (1999, so read LS1 intake), and MS3 cam 6 speed car. Since it was so choked. So having a good intake helps, like said how much money do you have to spend.

If you are going to save the $$$ and not get a Fast, get a used ls6 and be done. Port the stock tb or get a 85mm tb. No sense dicking around with a pricier intake claiming gains no one has been able to prove in all the years the ls6 intake has been being made.
im still running a stock ls6 on a decent cam, full exhaust...even putting heads on soon. Then, the ls6 will finally be the choking point. Def. save the money and go ls6.
People are dumb, like it has been stated thousands of times. A fast is for someone who wants everybody of HP they can get, ls6 is a budget friendly intake worth around 5-10 HP over the shitty ls1 intake. A 102 is not to big for a stock ls1, it has been proven time an time again.
You are going to waist your money on a ported ls6, which is worth 5hp at most, they can't be ported out like a fast. Shitbjust grab a piece of 300 sand paper and go at it, that's all they do...it's very difficult to port match when you can't see where it needs to be taken out. Your going to blow $500 on a ls6? Why not spend a few hundred more and get a better intake?
**** theirs a couple 102's in the classifieds right now brand new for around $750
