The GM MAF's are actually 90mm ID even though everyone still says 85mm. I think the OD is 96mm = 3.78". The 4" bellow will tighten up nicely around it.

There is really only so much you can do to port these thing, most of the times when your getting a "ported" FAST its just a very basic port match. There is this lip that gets sanded down and smoothed.

Tony Mamo takes them apart and ports them in the runners too and people have always been happy with the work he's done. It's expensive but there is a lot involved and is hands down the best porting for the plastic FAST you can get.

How much the porting gains is something people will bitch and moan about for years to come.

Some claim it hurts it, some say its not worth the time or money, and some see good gains.

Here is stock cube LS2 that Vengeance did. The graphs are down but you can still read that it gained about 8 horsepower from the port job.
https://ls1tech.com/forums/generatio...-cube-ls2.html

The way I see it if I am spending the money on a fast, which have a low horsepower to dollar ratio say $850 for 15hp. another 8hp for $150 don't see that bad to me. That is how I saw it when I made my purchase. I figured if I saw any gains it was money well spent. Weather I did or not we'll never know, but it was only 150 bucks.

But having said all this (I'm getting long winded), I think there two situations where a ported FAST will really pick up a gain.

+Big cubes
or
+A large cam high compression 347, because, having a Mamofied lets you rev the engine a bit higher before you will start to flatten out in power. This can be good for the higher revving big cam cars, although there is really a limit to how far you should really spin a hydraulic set-up
