I am not familiar with TS's WS6 at all.... I was wondering if the WS6 intake manifold was the same as a LS6 intake manifold??? or is it just the same as a LS1 intake??

What year trans am ? The 01-02 camaro z28/ss and trans am /ws6 got the ls6 intake. Also if there is a egr pipe going in to the intake right behind the throttle body its a ls1 intake.

It should be a LS1 unless someone has swapped it out for a LS6 already. A pic would help. Even if it has a EGR pipe going into the mani. It could be the SLP LS6... take a pic. Or check the part# and get back to us.

*** also! Corvette LS1 manifolds dnt have EGR... so part# is best way to identify what intake it is.

I see deals all the time on LS1 intakes.. I was wondering, are the HP gains much more greater with the LS6 over the LS1?? All this time I am using waiting to find a deal on a LS6, I wonder can I just go ahead and get an LS1 intake and still be just as happy with it..

Here is what I plan on doing..

4.8L, LS6 springs, LS6 cam, 243 heads, 92mm tb, and on 3 76mm ebay hairdryer..

98-00 ls1 intakes. 01-02 ls6 intakes. Verify by part numbers first

the LS6 intake will flow much more air and has a significant gain in power over the LS1 intake so go with at least the LS6

^^^ 1st) you cannot fit a 92mm on a LS1 or a LS6 intake. Biggest you can go is a 85mmTB. and that's with the adaptor that reduces the 85mm back to 78mm. So ther is no point on doing that. Run a Port and Polished stock TB.

2nd) that is a LS1. dnt worry about part#

3rd) if your going to put in a Z06 cam buy the LS6 intake. It will compliment it well. But if I wer you I would buy a bigger cam and stronger springs. IMO

Like others have stated. The part# on the intake tells all. You will know right away if its ls1 or ls6.

Damn... I was afraid the 92mm would be too big but I got it anyway due to the great price.. Is there any other intake out there that will flow and gain as much power as the ls6 would on my 4.8??

Do u have a recommendation so I can start researching for a bigger cam and stronger springs?? I read one time about a couple of stock GM cams but I can't find the article again...

Ok, I found another intake... Seller claims not to be able to find a number on it anywhere on. I told him it would be on the bottom and he said its nothing.. I then asked him if there is a hole on the top right behing the TB opening and he said they is no hole at all. (no hole with a plug in it or nothing..)

He said it has a vent tube coming out of the side of the TB opening and a vent tube coming out of the very back of the intake.... But no numbers on it at all... it is brand new.... It sounds like an LS6 intake, but the no numbers thing is really messing with my head...

Does this sound like an LS6 intake?? (or some Jap Junk??)

Well the 92mm TB would go perfect on a F.A.S.T. 92mm intake, or the 102mm...

the bottom of a LS6 intake is flat with ribs. A LS1 is curved with ribs.

^^^ DNT BUY! confirm it is LS6 1ST! Like I said Corvette LS1 intakes have no EGR just like the LS6 dnt have EGR... ask him if the bottom of the intake is Flat. Or if it has a Wave in it... And both with have fins.

wave=LS1... Flat=LS6...

LS1 intakes have part# on the passenger side.
LS6 intakes have part# on the driver side. The bottom of the intake does not say part# it is on top side of the intake

Yes the 92TB is way to big for the LS1/6 opening.

Yes FAST78 is better than the LS6... you can get one and open up the snout to 90mm and run your 92TB

You are thinkn of GM HOTCAM and ASA. I'm not sure about building trucks. But I would get bigger cam. Check out TSP(great sponsor of ours) they can help you with cam selection.

if you already bought the 92mm throttle body you will need a fast 90 atleast.. i wouldnt bother getting a ls6 cam atleast go with a small forced induction cam.. also springs pushrods, port your oil pump, etc is all good insurance for a build
