Default flowmaster 10 vs borla xr1

I am about to redo my exhaust and run dual 3in exhaust with an x pipe. I daily drive the car so I would prefer no rasp, loudness isnt a problem. what would you all recommend the fm10's or the xr1's.

I've always loved the sound of FM but 10's are really loud. You said you DD this car, that's gonna get old pretty quick.

How much ground clearance do you lose with either one? I've heard XR1s are rather large in diameter.

Borla XR1's.....Flowmaster 10 series is very loud, not a deep sound but just loud. Had one on my old Z28 with LT's + 3" y pipe + 3.5" single exhaust

Swapped it for a Magnaflow Race series muffler in two days. Couldnt stand how loud it was even at cruising level.

Fbody- FM 1 chambers
Vette/GTO- Borlas

I'm not sure what an FM10 would sound like on an exhaust, never seen anyone try to do it... They are a bit expensive to use for a project.... Just sayin'!

I run the 10 series flowmasters with cats and an x-pipe and love them. I'm running them out back so the in car noise isn't much of an issue. Everyone that I've talked to has said my car is loud as **** when I drive by though.

i bought my 3" fm10 for $53...i don't think that's too terribly expensive. i have 1 7/8 hookers to a tsp ory to the factory i/ota pipe to the fm 10.

normal driving isn't loud at all. wot is almost deafening. i like it. contrary to what i've read in this thread, the muffler is very deep sub 3k rpm, sounds pretty good just cruising around. it is very loud wot, though. it has a blob of rasp around 2100-2300 rpm then it quickly goes away. i think the rasp is prob mostly due to the 2.5" exit on the tsp y...i think a 3.5 exit off the y and over the axle will help remove most, if not all of said rasp. we shall see.

I ran dumped 2.5" duals with one chambers for years on my automatic SS and I loved the sound at WOT. It droned really bad at cruise speed and at certain rpms it would resonate pretty bad. You can control it better in a 6 speed car. I've heard borla XR1s before and they sounded pretty good too.
