Default New CAI Results..Got rid of my lid and airbox

Ok so I race my car a lot and wanted to try something different. So I change over to the new CAI yesterday right before my event.. I normally run the 7.0 class all motor and I know what my MPH is... Well last night I ran a new class 7.30 so I was having to slow down my car.. I wanted to know how it was going to do so I ran a normal test pass and gained 2 mph right off the bat in the 1/8.

So for right now I have to say I'm liking the new setup.. I will know more next week when I run my normal 7.0 class event and see what changes I need to make to dial in.

Very nice I've been looking at doing something like this for a while now. I want to try running a velocity stack in my setup.

My buddy has the velocity and didn't like it matter of fact he took it off.

But each person is different in what they like and what it does for them.

I haven't tried that setup so I don't know.

Cool that you gained with it, but the lid setup looks better and cleaner imo.

It's all about the gain with me.... I like it without the lid but, if I would have lost on it I would have gone back with the lid "At the track"..

I'm going to see what I picked up in the 1/4 too.

I think it looks 100x better now, and not like every single other Ls1 I have ever seen.

That works great for a race car but I wouldn't recommend doing it on a street car or something that's driven in the rain. 1 big puddle is gonna cost you a motor.

Did the car previously have a good ram air kit or just a lid and free ram air or worse yet, stock airbox?

Did you factor DA into your MPH?

^^^ I was just wondering the same thing while reading the thread... I bet the SSRA makes same power as this intake if not more.

Yes it's a different setup. But I'm not a fan.

Yes I took DA factor into it... as a matter of fact when I said it gained 2mph right off the bat that was with the shitty DA that night... When I normally run in a good DA the mph was 2 mph faster then that..

I was very happy with it.... But I want to see what my 1/4 mile mph gains are and I will let every one know.

My old setup was the lid with the free ram air mod plus all the ram air ports from the fog light I have no front bumper supports.

As for the SSRA kit... Mine will make more power with what I have done to my car . You have a 2 or 3 inch wide box with that setup I have the front of my two fogs open straight to my filter plus all the air coming up from the bottom of the car.

But to me if I come across something better I will try it.. No reason why I wouldn't... Hell I might make that SSRA kit to see what it does.. I get the idea of the kit to push all the air coming from under the car to my box which I'm doing now with my filter.

I didn't make this kit I got this from a member here on Tech.. But after getting it I saw how easy it was to make..I should have just tried to make my own in the first place. But from the sounds of the parts list I was given I couldn't have made it for what I paid for it lol

Awesome keep us updated. Usually sealed kits using a quality lid are most effective but you can't argue with results.

Thanks for posting
