Default BeCool - What Are These Ports?

I sucked it up and bought a BeCool and it has some extra ports. There are two on the drivers side that I assume I will just plug, but this big *** one in the pic below seems like it might be useful for something? Anybody know? Do I just plug it as well?

Gotta love a crazy expensive piece that arrives to your house 3 weeks late, filthy (inside), with no instructions, **** rattling around in the box, and no plugs to the holes that are not in the stock radiator. . .

I stole this pic from another thread:

The two ports on the driver's side is for the LT1 oil "cooler". Plug them up. As I recall, my BeCool didn't come with the plugs either.

Filthy with junk in it and no instruction sheet? That's NOT the BeCool way. You could eat off the one I got. I'd say you got a return and/or re-box. Fault goes to the seller, not BeCool.

You did clean it out nicely, right?

Was shipped directly to me from becool. I will clean it out, just sux, lots of green fibers and large particulate, fins just a little beat from the loose retainer bangin around. The bag wasn't sealed. I will clean it out, but I gotta go buy the plugs. None of it is that big a deal, all of it combined makes me want to have bought a griffin.

I could and would eat off this one, but it says more about me than the rad lol.

The stock rad on a 98-02 f-bod was the LT1 rad? Learn something new every day.

That does suck. Disgruntled employee in shipping?

Naaa, the BeCool is better, it's not glued together like a Griffin.

No, the LS1 radiator was thinner with less capacity. A LT1 radiator drops right in and has a bit more capacity.

BeCool makes their F-body radiator to work with either application.

So, if your buttered bagel hits the floor butter side down, it's still good? Of course it is!

Russ, I've recently read about these dual-pass radiators, I think they're more commonly called "serpentine radiators".

Tell us more about the one you got. Pics?

Sure, I like that the inlet and outlets are on the PASS side so the hose routing looks normal. The fan is a factory '87 Buick GN that was in my surplus room. Here's the radiator, and a couple (build) pix.

So I have a BeCool now and have the same issue with what to plug them with... I sent an email to BeCool to see if they have any technical data on what brass freeze plugs I'd need.

Paul, do you recall what you did?

Also, why they hell they design it for a 93-02 and not include the plugs for the LS1? I understand they are the same radiator, but the GM fittings are different and should be covered. It should ship with the plugs and if you have an LT1 remove, if LS1 keep them in there.

Edit: BeCool got back to me. The passenger side port is a 1/2" NPT fitting and the driver side is a 3/8" NPT. So, I'll go pick those up as NPT brass freeze plugs and be good to go.

Hey Jake, funny you should ask, I just pulled the radiator yesterday.

I have ugly pipe plugs in them-probably because that's what was in my piping & plumbing drawer at the time.

I'm gonna get some nice aluminum recessed hex drive plugs.

I like the hex drive plug idea....I went with a chrome plug only because I happen to be at Gardner Westcott and had a "btw, do you have...." moment. Last minute SEMA prep, no sleep, a beer or two may have helped a little in the hasty decision process....

Exactly. I got some square driver brass plugs. For one, I always seem to get recessed plugs stuck on the end of whatever I was using to get them out.

I put a little teflon tape on there for ***** and giggles (though the fit was tight enough that it sheared most of it off):
