Default head/cam combo (narrowed down to 2)

Alright guys! I have finally decided between two head/cam combos but I am really frustrated as it is an extremely hard decision between the two.

The first being a Lunati 230/238 .600/.600 113 LSA , Patriot Predator heads, paired with F.A.S.T. 102 intake and TB, Meziere electric water pump, and 3.90 gears. Now I have seen dyno numbers up to around 540 whp with this combination.

The second (which i think im leaning more towards, although its a daily driver, but i just LOVE the lopeyness) is the MS4 - with a 112 LSA - cam paired with PRC stg 2.5 LS6 heads, along with same supporting mods as listed above. I also saw proven dyno numbers of 549 whp with this combination, but my question is, how streetable is this cam with an M6?

Thanks guys!

Your dreaming if you think a 346 is going to lay down anything over 500whp with those two head/cam combos unless it was in a large displacement motor. I think the dyno number you saw where at the flywheel and not the rear wheels. You'll typically see rwhp numbers around 420-450 range with either of those setups. The Lunati cam will probably have a bit more driveabilty but you more than likely make more power with the TSP h/c.

No way in hell, especially with those heads, the first combo makes over 500 to the wheels.

I am runnint the tsp tsunami cam(very similar to ms4) with the prc stage 2.5 ls6 heads, fast 102/ptm 102 hand ported, kooks 1 7/8th headers and full supporting mods and bolt ons. car made 460/410, the 500 mark can be broken, but very very few setups will get you there, plus very high end heads and custom cam setups

hmm.. okay well then maybe that was at the crank. But you think i should go with the ms4 combo then? i just dont want driveability to be a huge issue. I mean i realize that its going to be a lot worse with the ms4 but i think i can handle it.

Ms4 combo might require you to flycut the pistons

Not a big fan of Patriot heads....

A better all around setup than the ms4 prc ls6 heads would be the ms3 prc 5.3 2.5 heads. Search this combo on the dyno threads.

ms3 and 5.3 heads are a great combo. I was going to go with that but then saw how common it was so i ran different picking the tsunami cam. I see that combo making consistent 450 to the wheels. excellent proven power budget setup. texas speed makes great combos. There are many ways to reach a 450 whp goal,(all in how much dough you have to spend) just keep researching and asking questions. The guys on this site are very knowledgable and have all been through exactly what you are doing. I just built mine last year. Just remember you'll need fuel upgrades as well and other supporting mods. And while you are in there, dont forget all the small stuff like gaskets, head bolts, lifters, pushrods, etc. all that good stuff, and probably want to upgrade intake setup if you have not already.

How about one of Vengeance Racing's H/C packages? I would imagine either could potentially break 450rwhp depending on specifics

Build your own: https://www.vengeancerd.com/ecart/pr...t-Applications

VRX/TF kit: http://tinyurl.com/VRX-Cam-TF-Heads

Link wouldn't work so I made one.

You need to look at this:
http://www.trickflow.com/partdetail....S-K306-515-460
Trick flow's heads/cam combo that's dyno proven 515hp/460Tq
Comes with all gaskets, pushrods, double springs, roller cam, the works... Fully assembled. As long as you have a ls6 or fast intake, and have it tuned afterward ur set.
Cam is 228/230 .585/.585 112lsa
Can pick up for 3200 which can be a Lil cheaper then buying things separately in the long run. And it doesn't get much easier than this

OP we have a ton of options to meet your needs, and I love to run max effort setups just as much as the next guy, but if drivability is big concern I believe we are much better suited looking at our other options. Now Im not saying not to do it, but I would like to discuss the ins and outs of a setup like this before you purchase something and then wish you would have went with something else. Your goals of 500rwhp are very ambitious and not impossible but a setup like that would require every bolt on imaginable as well as a set of quality aftermarket casting cylinder heads such as our PRC 227s, max effort cam, FAST 102 intake, decent amount of compression, electric water pump etc. to do so. Feel free to give me a call I would be happy to go over the various offerings, and make sure we get you into package you'll enjoy driving everyday.
