slp lid doesnt fit on stock lower airbox?????? help!!
I got a 99 z28 with a slp air lid and what looks like a flopac installed. Problem is the slp lid doesn't fit nice and tight down over the factory lower airbox panel. It's as if the lid is the wrong year or for a ram air car, this car isnt. I git Jo IDE why the airlift doesn't fit snug. the air filter dont fit rite either, it wiggles side to side. (Fram# ca3914) Any ideas?????

What bellow do you have on it? I know when I got my whisper lid I had a no name smooth bellow and it wouldn't compress down far enough to fit over the airbox. Even after I put the stock one I have to make sure I compress it down far enough to fit correctly. Could it be that you just aren't compressing it right and the clamps won't clamp correctly?

No, the lid definitely does not slip over the stock air box base. I have no clue. I'm thinking the car has a ws6 airbox base on it or the lid is for the wrong year? I'll try to get pics soon.
As for better 60 foots, M/T drag radial, 255 60 15 if u got an LT1 s10. Airbag in the right rear, and pull the front sway bar off, also, 18-20 psi air in tires...I was cutting 1.96 60 fits in a auto 95 trans am with street tires and no mods other than a muffler, no cat and pulling the air filter.

sorry bout thE BIG PICTURES. im thinking my problem is that the airbox base is from a SS camaro, but the lid is for a non ram air Z28. anyone think that would cause i fit issue? ive looked at SS camaros on ebay and it looks like the airlids are wider at the base. since i have a Z28 but has a SS hood with what looks like a SS lower airbox base (since it is has the gap for the ram air SS hood) i wonder if thats the problem.
anyone know if a airlid for a camaro SS is different than one for a Z28?

The filter tray which is removeable will help the filter sit a little higher and help in sealing it to the base.
Check out a wrecking yard, the V6 cars have the same tray.
BTW the older lids were a bad fitting pos use some foam tape to help it seal.
The new mold design is much better and I have no probs with mine.

Thanks guys. The car doesnt have the removable air box insert and the slp air lid is god knows how old. Anyone know the part number for the k and n filter I need?

there is no k&n part number you need. go pick up a wix paper filter from your local parts store. flows just as good as k&n and you dont have to worry about excess filter oil wrecking your maf readings
