Default older fast 90 tb sticking closed/off idle

got a fast 90/90 (for $350) set up last year and put it on a couple weeks ago. it sticks closed and hangs open right off idle, even while driving at any speed it sticks and i have to "blip" the throttle to get it to fully close and return to idle. driveable but tricky cause its a 6 speed. so is it fixable? already tried cleaning lubing and doesnt appear to be binding. it acts like the return spring is weak? if its not fixable then what are most people running the nick williams?

We had the same issue with ours. My husband tried to file it a bit, he tried a heavier spring and it seemed hopeless. He finally fixed it by putting a screw or some type of plug in one of the holes. It works fine now. Hope this helps.

i put a carb styl return spring on it to but it didnt help. i could put a heavier spring on but the gas pedal would be way to stiff. not sure what you mean by the screw/plug idea, my idle/stop screw is fine. if i go w/ new tb what are most people using.

The blade contacts the bore of the TB when it is bolted to the intake. Mine wouldn't bind on the bench but would every time it was installed.

Use grease or something smeared on the bore and work the blade with it on the car, this should let you see where it hangs. Mark it with a sharpie then remove it and sand it with a dremel (GO SLOW! Do this several times if you must, just don't hog it out all at once).

Some people have also reported fixing theirs by loosening the screws on the blade and working it so the blade recenters itself in the bore then tightening them back up.

^^^ like he said i used a carb return spring and it helped but ended up using a dremel. Works better but thinking about buying the newer style or a 92 fast

You may get satisfaction by loosening the blade screws,
and letting the blade snap shut hard with the idle stop
screw backed out to center it in the bore, and then
retighten them.

The clock-spring could possibly be tightened another
turn, in place.

Unfortunately this is a known problem with the older 90's. It's happened to a lot of folks. If I was in your shoes, for safety and piece of mind, I would just get a 92 TB and call it good. Then again you already have a 90 so it's a tough decision. But they have been known to stick OPEN as well.

Removed TB put light behind it a saw the blade was hitting on top and bottom. Fine adjustment of idle screw centered the blade but after snapping it a few times it would bind again. Could notget the blade scews loose becauce they were mushroomed in the back. Then noticed there was play in the shaft. Final result=ordered NW92 from ws6store today.
What's the binding TB worth? I drove with it just annoying to me having to blip the throttle. Maybe someone else can make it work.
