My dad drove my car to work today and i got hell becuase my car is TOO DAM LOUD !!! so i gotta figure a way to either quiet it down or i gotta buy a new catback that is quieter.
This really pisses me off because i love the sound. what can i do ???

i will send you some video w/ sound i have mf my GMMG w/ my cam i love it not alot of lope though but i got the 114 lsa because of the automatic. Hit me up over aim if ya want the file.
silver2kws6

also i am thinking of getting a magnaflow exhaust but a bullet muffler and install shouldn only cost me 100 bucks i will probably get the 24 inch one. just sucks cause i love the sound of my exhaust its just too loud for my neighborhood and waking up at 5 am kinda pisses em off so i gotta do something. If i have to ill get the magnaflow and then after i move out in a year put the gmmg back on. I dunno i think no matter what i get itll be loud.

anyone with magnaflow and headers think start up is too loud for a neihgborhood full of whiney ppl ?

I've tried both so I speak from experience:

Bullet in the I pipe quiets it some, probably about 10 to 20%

Borla 5" round XR1 quiets it about 30 to 40%

Either is easy to do, two band clamps and the muffler and about an hours work. Both are straight through design and won't affect flow much at all.

The bullet is cheap - about $50, the borla is expensive - about $150. Save the piece you cut out and with two new band clamps or weld back in you can go back if and when you're ready.

DaddySS,

I'm planning to add the Borla XR-1 to the I-pipe of my GMMG when I change my SLP headers/cats over to Kooks/ORY. Are there any clearance issues with the 5" round version? Some folks on this board say to go with the oval version of the XR-1...

Tell your dad to shut up, plain and simple. I bet your car sounds insane, but in a good way. I wouldnt touch it.

i guess money isnt an option. let him know that you'll be losing money on selling the catback, buying a new one, removing the old one, and installing the new one. i know that would convince me

I have Jet-Hot headers with an ORY and a Magnaflow with a 12" bullet in the I-Pipe. It is quiet. You get an initial roar on start up, lasts Less than a second, then it is mellow. Under 2k you would swear it was stock, or quieter than stock. Between 2k and 3k, depending on throttle, it still sounds stock. Over 3k. I live in a neighborhood full of BMW's, SUV's, Mini-van's, soccer moms and lawyers. I leave for work at 5:00 in the morning and no one has complained. My immediate neighbors have actually complimented the exhaust note, but he rides a Harley with loud pipes, so he is a little forgiving I love the sound and it is a great flowing, great looking, cheap cat-back. BTW, I added the bullet to get rid of rasp. With your cat's in, you shouldn't need it.
