Some cars will need the casting tab cut off the drivers side of the block. A sawzal makes QUICK work of this.

Never heard of having to cut a block anywhere, anytime, ever.

I myself had to shave a tiny bit of the lip of the K member. Anout an inch wide and not even an 1/8" deep.

Thanks for all the replies. I'm hoping to not have to grind anything but I will be putting the car on the lift today to see what the job is going to look like.

It was rediculous on my m6 car to get the pacesetters out of the car. I can only imagine how much you would have to do if you didn't grind that casting off the block and notch the k member to get it in there. Because I am lazy I ended up cutting the sucker out with a sawzaw I wish you luck!

I just saw that you are using a lift, this will make getting it easier I had to use some 6 ton jack stands. If you end up having to do it on the ground you will need to have it about 2ft up in the air to get them in. I recommend putting a trash back around them so that you don't scratch the armor coating off.

Most people if not all that are grinding don't take the steering shaft loose. If you take it off at the top and lay it over to the side (a 1 minute job seriously) the header will slide right in.

Install wasn't the reason I had to grind. It would have rested on the #5 or 7 primary... Can't remember which. It didn't bother me though at all. Like I said, it was barely an inch wide and an eighth of an inch deep.

That's probably true. On my buddy's car, we cut the tab off and removed the oil filter to get it in. But cutting the tab also was a one minute job.

Drivers side K-member was all, air cut-off tool worked great, took 2 minutes.

Some headers like said above need some areas grinded on to clear. I installed grots, pacesetters and kooks on various cars and they all needed grinding of some sort. My bbk's and now ARH's both went in without any grinding, even though the arh's are 1-7/8.. you get what you pay for when it comes to the 1-7/8 in terms of fit as they are much tighter than the 1-3/4.
