Hopes and dreams... Shot down...lol. I'll have to pull the rear springs and jack the rear up to see what kind of room I got.. :/

Do you think I have a chance with 2 1/2 both split and squashed like your's? That should open the area so as to not restrict from the rest of the 3" exhaust.

Not really enough width for that. Check out this thread, post #582. I think 'LPE 403' used 3" but not positive. His car isn't down in the weeds either and you can see the clearance problem. My exhaust is tucked way over to the passenger side and that gives you the most room.

That's what I love about these forums. You can take precautionary measures because someone else has already been there. Thanks!

Since winter has set in here in the Midwest (wow does it suck) I'm thinking about changing my true dual / duals. It has a little bit of rasp at 1500-2500 rpm and I'm thinking about swapping out the Dynomax race mufflers to Magnaflow #10416 link. The Magnaflows are the same outside diameter but the case is longer and I assume they have more / better packing than race mufflers. What do you guys think - Will these help get rid of a little rasp??? LMK what you think.

It should just from the longer case length itself., and Dynomax has the 24236 with a 18" case .

WOW! Boy am I glad you updated in this post! That is beautiful work my friend. Too bad we don't have "winter" here in the Phoenix area.

I wonder if a single 3" would fit over axle with a split after for this set up. I may have to look into that. Either way, it looks like I have some work ahead of me. Keep us updated what you go with and how it turns out.

Those Magnaflow's look a lot like what I bought to put on my '69 C-10 before I sold it. I still have them too, may have to put them to good use soon. I got the #10426 they are a 18" body, stainless muffler. Not sure if those would fit or not but they may be worth a shot. Here's a few pics of the mufflers.

Ya, I'm also looking at Magnaflow #10426. Hard to know how far to go without making it sound too tame LOL.

Can anyone else take a guess whether or not swapping race mufflers for Magnaflows will kill a bit of rasp? Also wondering if I need to go to an 18" long case vs. 14" case. Thanks.

I think you're on the right track to kill that pesky rasp. Old friend of mine use to do that quite a bit on customer cars by adding the longest thrush cherry bomb he could find. Longer = more resonance absorption. He also would crimp pipe slightly in different spots with huge channel locks after getting pipe cherry red with oxy-acetylene. Wouldn't recommend that for your flow though obviously.

That exhaust is really cool. What did you paint/coat it with? How did the finish hold up over the last year?

I think I used VHT header paint. The finish held up quite well although I don't drive the car in the winter and try to avoid rain LOL.
